| Hello folks!
Benn trying to install MacOSX on my Pegasos 2 using this guide:
http://translate.google.fr/translate?u=http://obligement.free.fr/articles/molk.php&sl=fr&tl=en&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8
I am on final stage:
Quote:
| Then start the Pegasos as Molk (with the command "boot molk" in SmartFirmware), and at the prompt, type the command line after the CD is inserted in the correct drive (if you have two and it does not work not with the first player, so the second try, it works;-D): startmol-X - cdboot |
I am doing everything correct (I think) but it would boot without letting me go on the command line in order to start the MacOSX from CD it would get stuck on the penguin booting screen.
If any friend in here got a Pegasos 2 and have managed tog et it working please reply on this topic.

I am quite interested in this. Even though I haven't the hardware to run it. But if my experience of Mac and Linux is anything to go by here's some hints:
Somehow it looks like Molk thinks everything is set up. Is there a key that can break it?
On the Pengiun screen can you press Ctrl-Alt-F1 and get to a console?
If you can get to a console try pressing Ctrl-C twice. It needs to be broken twice befire it quits.
This line may give a hint: Once the installation is complete, restart MorphOS to change again "start-misc" commenting / bin / bash (by adding the "#" symbol). This action will allow you to boot directly in Mac OS X on your next order "boot molk".

If I understand right, your problem is that you cannot enter smartfirmware's command line.
Try to hold ESC key after turned on the machine on a PS/2 keyboard to cancel normal boot script.

No this is not the case as I am getting on OF pressing ESC. I can not get on the Molk command line in order to type the command that would start the boot from CD process.
@thread
I will try the above suggestions, thanks guys!

| Hello to everyone!
I have it booted.
Commenting the suggested line @ start-misc was the key point to get on the command line.
Had the 10.4 Retail CD booted.
Will install it asap!
Keep you posted!
Thanks!

| Hello again!
Having got some good advice by you guys I am returning with one more question just in case you have something to advice me:
I have managed to installed MacOSX 10.4 via MOLK on my newly Peg2 board and it worked with no probs!
I am using this guide:
http://translate.google.fr/translate?u=http://obligement.free.fr/articles/molk.php&sl=fr&tl=en&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8
However the bloody network does not work!
I have replaced the data on start-misc file with stuff matching to my network
192.169.1.1 router 192.168.1.10 IP Computer's IP 192.168.1.1 Gateway 255.255.255.0 NetMask.
On molrc.net file I have tried to use both:
netdev: tun0-tun
and
netdev: $ {session} tun-tun
on the molrc.net file but no luck.
I have noticed those two file also: dhcpd-mol.conf and resolv.conf, I wonder if I should change anything to them.
One last thing:
On the MacOSX install I set the Internet connection manually -no DHCP- entering the Network data above-. Later, on the NetWork settings of MacOSX 10.4, I would get the message that built in Ethernet has no cable - it is listed on the ports list with this message- and I would get no result when I press the configure button.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

| Well I have managed to install MOLK to a friend's Pegasos 2. It was not that difficult after all, it just need the correct DVD of OSX 10.4, I was trying with Leopard before. Anyway I have BIG problem to make the network work. Can anybody please give me some advice?
Here are the setting on my start-misc file:
Quote:
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 up # define your network-configs here route add -net 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 eth0 # " route add default gw 192.168.1.1 # "
|
Perhaps that matters:
On the second line if I change the value to 192.168.1.1 I take an error message about route, -on MOLK startup- (Route: Netmask Does Not Match Route Address). if I leave it as 192.168.0.0 I take the message that eth0 is up and running. Same goes for 192.168.1.0 and even I comment it, the eth0 seems to be ok. UPDATE: Even if I ignore this error message and set the second line to be route add default gw 192.168.1.1, eth0 seems to work OK, I can ping the mahcine and get an IP after an ifconfig command.
I have tried with all the drivers as described on the molrc.net file, now the active driver is this:
Quote:
During the MacOSX 10.4 install:
1. I select Built In Ethernet as the method of connection.
2. I select DHCP on Network settings adding the DNS names (I add two DNS servers), I have read this as advice on other forums.
However on the Network Settings of the MacOSX the Built In Ethernet seems inactive -no cable connected- and I can not configure it pressing the Configure button -nothing happens-. Same thing happens whatever driver I may try on molrc.net file.
Please note that I can ping the mahcine through the 192.168.1.10 IP while I am in MacOSX.
Plus: An ifconfig command on the Linux prompt of MOLK would present me the IP etc.
I have tried to change the values on resolv.conf file, no result, I placed back the default values!
Well that is all I have done trying to get online! Any help would be great!
To cut a long story sort it seems that on the Linux part of MOLK my Network is ok but for a bloody unknown reasons to me I can NOT configure anything inside MacOSX the EtherNet Port seems to be in-active. I can NOT configure it, it would appear out of cable to netWork settings. The only state where I can configure the NetWork inside MacOSX is during the install. Where I can select the EtherNet Port, set manual or DHCP connection etc....
ps. Also I got no sound. There is a Sound Blaster Live on this Pegasos, if anyone knows how to get this fixed please share some info!

Ive had this trouble when using OSX with PegxMac on my A1. In fact I never resolved it but think I can give some hints.
First, after you install OSX, you should see an extra MoL disk on the side when you boot it. This contains some MoL drivers that should cover network and sound.
In Preferences these should come up and you should see a MoL Ethernet interface. Now what usually happens is that the Mol network and Linux are separate. And NAT is used to join between them. So by all means configure OSX for DHCP with the MoL driver.
On the Linux side you should be able to set up the network as you wish and MoL will transfer between them. Here's an extra link on network:

Thanks for the MOL info link. I had not seen that web page before...I always look for info on how to install it on Debian! I'm guessing this information is still all valid on a Squeeze installation?

Yeah it is. It should be distro-agnostic really.
I only found that page accidently. I was looking for a more up to date source link. The source we have seems to be five years old but the files have been modified this year! Might have to svn it in. If you look at the code section of the MoL SF site you see a CLI line to svn it. |
