I think no.

There is no point in producing HW for 30-40 active MorphOS users.
Reviving old hardware from the dump is better option here.

AmigaOneX1000 was possible candidate, to which the MOS programmers clearly said NO.
No, there is no company in the process of getting new PPC HW out for MOS. All they money from MorphOS registrations go for supporting the software infrastructure, not the hardware.

@drHirudo

Too bad.
Buying new could be simpler than trying to find some old that works.

(my MosMini is ok for now, but if MOS becomes my main system, I would want to have spare HW for it, some SAM460 caliber thing in cost reduced version ...
Let's see, I hope that at the end of this year I have fully working Amigalike devices powered home office.)

I think we will have to wait until they port to x86/ARM

new PPC HW for MOS is just not viable enough

There is no point in producing HW for 30-40 active MorphOS users.

Each of them holding 40 MorphOS licenses.

And yes, if such a hardware would cost well over 2000 euro, there is no point.

iBooks max out at 1.33GHz (12") and 1.42GHz (14").

Indeed you're right, apologies. It's a 1.33GHz 14". Still, it's a lovely little machine that's in great shape for its age and would make for a lovely MOS portable.

Me too... I'm regularly up at the recycling place dumping the carcasses of computers that are completely dead/useless, and it's really odd seeing stacks of PCs which are newer than my every day machines just dumped there. However, I've yet to see a single Mac there - they really didn't seem very popular in Ireland at all!

i would never be able to fill my house with 40 computers without my girlffriend finding out about it :-p

a machine (like x1k) for 2000 euro is no problem for me but since you dragged price into this, why ain't MOS on lets say... sam440 or 460 ?
I know why but its a question everyone asks at meetings etc, common question but never really explained why.

yep, Amiga + clone users = have no problems with waiting, 2 more weeks is by now the meaning of 2 more years if not more.

/sarcasm

Seriously, do you think that this will happen anytime soon?..

not soon, no. But they are not in a hurry and have good HW in cheap used Macs.

@Toaks

but never really explained why

MorphOS Team needs not to provide any explanation and is not obliged to port MorphOS to anything. My personal opinion is that possible userbase increase is not worth the effort, especially as MorphOS is not currently available on any e400 core derivative. It means that work needed may be much bigger compared to, let's say, port for iBook machines.

@g_kraszewski

It`s hard to imagine a single person out there who wants to try MOS but wouldn`t get an Apple to do it, it makes no sense at all.

You have to find an intersection of two sets. One set is people who are curious about MorphOS. The other set is people owning Samantha board. In my opinion amount of the intersection is very low.

But it nevertheless exists. I would even think that those additional MorphOS customers would be surprised (you know, why... ).

I think that a port to Sam or X1000 boards would be wasted time for MOS devs. It's basically going one step forward, than two steps backwards.

The serious amount of work needed for that 2 ports would be much better spent on getting MOS ported on x86 or ARM HW. Or indeed improving on MOS itself

@cha05e90

Ok, then I guess they think that things like Airport, R300 and making the OS work better are more important than porting to almost completely alien hardware with a small userbase, made smaller by the fact that an awful lot of them wouldn`t buy the damn OS even if it cured cancer. Especially in light of the fact that they are already supporting fast, good hardware that you stand a good chance of tripping over in the street.

Yes I think my cognitive machinery is working just fine.
