Looks like somebody discovers America again after years :)

Btw: play a little with filetype context menu there to get more options available under RMB menu there like: testing ZIP archive, listing ZIP archive, unpacking to RAM:, converting to 7z, etc...

i think magellan could need some simple switchable popup context help, when hovering above some button or other part of interface. surely complex functionality cannot be explained that way but some basic things might.

Help key should open corresponding chapter from .guide currently, but I think you're right that some kind of popup help could be implemented too... for example simple thing like showing button's name when holding mouse over those.

okay started to test dopus under aros68k, with the gcc library for now, looks really good!

it doesnt start with the icon doubleclick but i think it is aros problem.
i will be testing a lot i guess, as it seems it will be my aros desktop choice on my a4000. im very pleased with the results of this project i must say.

If you took that kas1e's test archive it has few issues... icon is in wrong type and doesn't work on any system, you can change it yourself to get it work. It also has old modules and configs are far from good, so I wouldn't recommend to build own system around it.. it's just for testing.

But anyway work the guys are putting on it is really great. Looks it'll be more than I was hoping initially when paying for the sources, I'm so pleased too :)

ah, so its just wrong icon type? i have not even looked for it.

as for building a system around it, errm, i dont know what do you mean. im not building anything around it. ive just used it a while and it works perfectly stable and dependable so far. definitely better than aros wanderer, and if nit works fast on my a4000 i will use it as default for further aros testing, no matter. i mean its just a file manager, but what a one!

I mean configuring (building) it for your own needs. It is sooo configurable, that it can be anything you like :) Some like it more filemanager type, some more like desktop. Configuring all kinds of filetypes, menus, shortcuts, gfx, 3rd party modules etc... It just is far from what it can be in that shape :) You need to fix many things first... now it's like quick hack up for dopus4 look and minimal os4 filetypes with nothing much enabled (go through the settings at least and enable more features there) etc. But glad you like it even in that form..

;)

im not going to re-configure it much. not initially at least. i think basic everyday usage is quite a good a way to test it initially. otherwise lets see what kind of tests are going to be requested. have no worries.

You wont find the bugs that way, you need to do the unexpected, try out things the devs never thought of.

@broadblues

i think the most important are bugs that regular user will encounter, those will make appearance in everyday use. then of course you can try to do things the developer didnt think of as you say, but what would that be? my imagination is a little limited in that respect.

the most important thing is probably the ability to pin down a bug reproducably and the ability to provide an essential description along with a log. my a4k is hoohed up to serial debug, and if i revive my 3.9 setup ill have muforce full time at disposal, in case of some mem trashing.
