Hi,

I thought I submitted a tutorial for 'OS4 Zone' the other day, but until today I did not see it show up as such. Therefore I submitted it once again.

How long does it take for an item to show in 'OS4 Zone'?

Untill we have manually approved the item.
So the best thing to do is to PM a staff member and tell that you have submitted there, since we don't have anything showing when there is new content.

@tomazkid

I did inform Yo about the submission in irc, she said there was a problem with OS4 Zone. I'll let you 2 sort it out.

@OldFart

Thanks, I'll take a look at it.

@OldFart

Hmm, found this while looking:
The same tutorial?

Should we remove one of them?

@sundown
What was or is the problem??

As Tomaz said, we don't have a visual indicator letting us know there's anything to be approved for that particular part of the site..

@tomazkid

OldFart did submit the tutorial twice, so if its a duplicate, you know why.

Yup, its a dup, both by OldFart. Another dup, "Simple removable USB easy fix", seems others had problems getting their tuts listed.

@wegster

OldFart submitted the tut yesterday & I asked Yo to check, but she found nothing waiting. It was submitted again today & again Yo couldn't find it. Yo then said it was a problem with OS4 Zone & she approved it. You'll have to talk with her next time she's in chat to ask what the exact problem was.

Could be she's never done it before & just had to figure it out?

@sundown

The problem with OS4-zone is that we have to check every category manually, to see if there is any content that is not visible (not visible = not approved).
It is quite time consuming to do it manually, as well as we quite easily can miss something that is new and not approved.
As a comparison, for the "news items submitted" section, we have a nice little menu showing the number of news items waiting to be approved.

The best help a submitter to the OS4-zone can give, is to notify a staff member that content has been submitted, and as well to which section of OS4-zone it was submitted.

Regarding duplicate from Oldfart, it seems like a useful tutorial, so from my point of view both can remain, it can make it easier to find later on for someone who does not know it exists.

@tomazkid

Shouldn't the welcome title be modified to clarify what a submitter needs to do after a submission? Just a line that says to PM a mod for approval should be enough.
