Sorry about that guys.. it's kinda a crappy image.. you're just seeing it on my screen as a small icon on a 1920 x 1080 desktop so it gets an oversampling effect naturally.

www.grebz.fr/jv_amiga_english.php

I just wanted this one because it has the Amiga cut out into an alpha so it looks more like a nice icon (and I didn't want to have to do the work myself).

I've been looking at FS-UAE's upcoming Game Center thing that they are working on and this looks really nice!

@tommywright

What is the resource footprint like on this? I would be interested to know if this would work on a raspberry pi.

I'm showing about 32K for the graphical launcher, and another 61K to emulate an Amiga 4000 and boot Workbench 3.1. This is running on Linux Mint 13, and I'm using the KDE system monitor to get the numbers.

@bison

hmmm. Maybe if I used something like Arch Linux with the most lightweight of desktops I could pull off a nice little emu box.

@jabeck

Hi, there exists some workarounds to get FS-UAE to work better with multiple monitors. Please see this thread for examples:
http://code.google.com/p/fs-uae/issues/detail?id=31

(Bottom line: you should be able to use the fullscreen_width / fullscreen_height options in combination with environment variable SDL_VIDEO_FULLSCREEN_HEAD=0 or SDL_VIDEO_FULLSCREEN_HEAD=1, or in combination with fullscreen_mode=fullscreen-window).

@olegil

Hi, I'm incorporating the log changes into the FS-UAE code base (that code isn't really used in FS-UAE, but best to change it if it cases compilation problems.

There are too many warnings, no doubt. I am slowly fixing the source to reduce the numbr of warnings (which are often related to data type conversions and data type mismatch with format strings). I want to try to get the fixes merged back to WinUAE to keep the codebases as close as possible :)

Btw, I have debian packages available for download on the official site, including a package for fs-uae-launcher.

@bison

Sounds like some sort of local problem? driver bug perhaps? FS-UAE shouldn't be able to accidentally close the X session, so it is more likely that Xorg simply crashes?

@CritAnime

Unfortunately, the Raspberry PI is nowhere near powerful enough to run FS-UAE at full (or good) speed :(

Welcome to AmigaWorld Frode and thank you so much for an amazing emulator. I can't wait to see where you take it. Currently it's stunning!

I will start work on it when I finish this set of night shifts.

@FrodeSolheim

Hi mate. Which pi were you referring to? I have the 512mb version so I was gonna give an even split between the gpu and system. Plus I have clocked mine to 1ghz.

If you're looking for a small footprint, then Tiny Core is another option:

Yeah, I think the same. I haven't had this problem lately, but I think it can be triggered by using alt-tab to release the mouse pointer and then trying to close the Amiga emulation window with the mouse. This is tricky, since FS-UAE grabs the pointer when it gets close to the Amiga window, but sometimes you can sneek it over the close icon. It's definitely a border case.

This looks even better and there is a dedicated pi, arm v6, version. So long as x works then we should be good to go. My plan is to ditch anything that takes system resources, including wifi, to get every last ounce of power out of it. Then over clock it to 1ghz and give even split between gpu and system with the RAM.

I know the development said there is not much hope of running it on the pi but I can't resist a challenge

Thanks :)

@CritAnime

I don't mean to discourage you, I believe it will be able to run - I just assume the CPU is too slow!

But if you like a challenge, then go for it :)

That nice Bezel Theme is for the Linux FS-UAE only? Other platforms?
Any chance seeing this on OS4?
Really nice anyway...

I've been getting my teeth into this emulator for the past couple of months or so. If you use Mac, Linux or Windows at the moment & I cannot recommend it enough to anyone.

If you really get into it & sign up at http://oagd.net/ too, you can help test the configuration files & let people know if they work or not. This is where the Launcher will automatically grab config files, screen shots, box art, release years etc... for the games in your folders.

If you haven't used it, yet, the websites uses it's own configs files for each game. Think of a MAME game in a zip file. FS-UAE can read a folder with zip files of WHD installed games, ADF or IPF files & run it for you saving you having to set anything up for the game (Machine, joystick, memory, multiple disks etc...).

On top of that, a couple of days ago I was playing Lotus 2 with the Dev, Frode, through network play. It's basically genius!

Oooookay,

Is there anyone in the community that would be keen to work on porting FS-UAE to OS4?

It's probably not quite a walk in the park kinda job, but I'm interested in peoples thoughts here.

Thanks, FuZ.

The database behind FS-UAE has just been opened up from a closed Beta.

Just thought I'd share that for those of you that use it :)
