Due to windows getting completely stuck, I have just formatted C: drive and installed XP on it.

Since I had Amikit installed on external Harddisk, i tried clicking on amikit.exe, but unfortunately it didint work and i suppose i need to reinstall it.

However, What I am hoping is that I wouldnt be in need of reinstalling everything from beginning. I feel especailly annoyed by the thought of finding and putting AmigaOS CDs inside to get Amikit properly installed.

I am also hoping not to be in need of reinstalling my Hollywood + Designer, since I would first need to install Hollywood4 and Designer 2.1 and then install them through each update that have come between the current versions, and that would be annoying.

Therefore, is there a way I can avoid these uncomfortabilities?

If i for example make copy of my Amikit folder, then just install the Amikit (wihtout using AmigaOS CD or anything), and copy all the stuff back to my Amikit folder, would that work?

If your AmigaOS setup hasnt been changed then it should just be a matter of setting up the winuae config + harddrive paths.

Hmmm - I hope you made a backup of your startup-sequence and user-startup BEFORE you formatted your C: drive.
I suspect your non-working Amikit is due to a missing entry in the user-startup.

Yes.
Take your backuped user-startup and replace the one from the fresh install with it - and all your Amiga software on the external drive should be available again without any probs.

I don't know - I don't use Amikit.
I only know that before I update or re-install AmigaOS I make a backup of my Startup-sequence and user-startup to avoid such hassle like you described.

Have I misunderstood something here? You have Amikit installed to an external device?

If so this is a very easy thing to fix. Just setup Winuae, and make a config that has the bootable "partition" pointing at ak0:

Thats all there is to it. Not sure why youre trying to click amikit.exe, its not needed and Id hazard a guess its nothing more than a way to start winuae using the amikit config.
