| I want to make sure I install this wazp3d correctly.
I downloaded the software from aminet and unarchived it to a Wazp3D folder I made in my main Applications folder on my System drive.
The install says to "If you are not using WinUAE but a real OS4 PPC Amiga copy Wazp3D.library-ppc TO LIBS:Warp3D.library".
I have an X1000 and opened my Libs drawer on my System drive and see the Warp3D.library but don't understand how I copy the Wazp3D.library-ppc to it. This Warp3D.library is a not a drawer I can copt this new file into so confused on what to do.
Also, what about all these other files that were unarchived into my System>>Applications folder I named Wazp3D? What happens with those? Just sit there or do I copy someplace? Confused what all these other files are for and if they are used by this new Wazp3D.library-ppc, how does it know I put these files where I did?

Rename the old file, copy the new file, rename it. You should reboot after you have done this so you know the old library is not loaded in memory, but you should not need to, if you have not yet started any games or programs using that library.
You can copy a file to new file name from shell, using the copy command.
Copy blabla_filename blabla_new_filename
Also Dopus4 has “Copy As” button, when you right click the button.
You should explore the AmigaOS shell, it easy to use and you drag and drop files on it.
Open shell
type “copy” drag “Wazp3D.library-ppc“ to shell window Press space bar type “LIBS:Warp3D.library” press enter to execute the command.

The Wazp install directions are a bit confusing.
Do this, rename Libs:Warp3D.library to xxWarp3D.library so you don't lose it. In the Wazp archive, rename Wazp3D.library-ppc to Wasp3D.library & copy it to Libs:. I only use it for blender, so I don't install Wazp3D prefs, but if you want to play games, just copy Wazp3D-prefs-ppc to Prefs: & rename it to Wazp3D & you're done. I toss the rest, but keep the whole archive in my download storage.
A good install test is the Boingball screen blanker. Open Perfs:Screenblanker & select the Boingball blanker, it requires miniGL, which we don't have yet, & it should fail to run before you install Wazp3D. It should run after the Wazp3D install, if done right. Last edited by sundown on 25-May-2012 at 02:14 AM.

"typo" indicates an error, the line is correct & you need to be sure you do it right. I even installed it wrong the first time, as it didn't work. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

Appears my boingball screenblanker still does not work as when I select it and click test full screen, all I get is a black screen, click the mouse and I go back to the screenblanker settings page.
I renamed my old file oldWarp3d.library and moved the new Wazp3D.library-ppc into the System:Libs drawer, then renamed it the Warp3d.library.
Now I have in my Libs drawer still another library named Warp3DPPC.library. Does that one supposed to be renamed also?
Rebooted to so not sure why it is failing.

No, it remains unchanged. Sounds like you installed it right, if you copied the prefs file over, you should remove it & try the Boingball blanker again. I'd try a hard reset first._________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

Nope, never moved over the prefs file. I did once double click the Wazp3D-Prefs while it was inside the Wazp3D folder I made for it and adjusted one setting to Renderer to the Composting 2D but that was it. Looking at the same pref it changed back to SoftPPC bit like it was before.
So not sure what is going on.
As a side note, the small monitor window when I select BoingBall does show the little ball bouncing inside and if I turn on sound I hear the ball bounce but when selecting Full Screen button black window yet I still hear the sound bouncing ball. Just black screen in full screen mode.

Reading that proper upper/lower case is needed, make sure its "Warp3D.library" & RWED protection bits are "on". I don't see any other changes, it works on both my FC & beta installs. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

If you re-read the by Rob quoted part you will see that you suggested renaming it to Wasp3D.library instead of Warp3D.library. Anyway the renaming is an unnecessary extra step that can be avoided by simply opening a CLI and typing in "copy Wazp3D.library-ppc TO LIBS:Warp3D.library" as already suggested by the readme.

This seems like such a simple operation. Why can't they just include a bloody damned installer!? Why's the point of baking a cake and not putting icing on top when the cake falls apart when you try and eat it?
There is no excuse for writing software drivers and not including an installer. Don't they understand drivers are technical? It seems even though they are programmers they still don't understand. Hell I even provided an installer for the Photosmart driver I compiled. I found out two days ago when installing it on a friend machine.
I'm sorry to be ranting this at you but I'm getting sick of this habit of not including installers It's not hard. The Amiga has had installers for so long that not including one just makes software backwards. Why should we bother with software that makes our life harder and makes the OS look ever more out of date? |

Because Alain has put a lot of work in this library and had no time to write an installer for it.
If YOU want to write an installer for him, go on, help yourself
But do not blame Alain for not having done so. Furthermore, you have 2 (yes TWO) command line to type, it's not a very complex installation.
Alain has offerered his work for nothing but a postal card, this project was not even aimed to AmigaOS 4 (it was designed for WinUAE) and then he made some tests on AmigaOS 4 and many foud his work of big interest for the Sam460/AmigaOne 500 and AmigaOne X1000 which do not have 3D hardware rendering so Alain went on working on it.
So if you think that typing 2 command lines makes your life harder, I'm very sorry _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

I can understand work has gone into this project but if it's fiddly to install and some people don't bother then that work can be wasted.
People only have to ask. But the last time I offered to do a script there was no interest. In any case it's not hard if you have a skeleton script ready to go. We don't need to use the offical installer everytime.
As to typing those commands. Look what happened to amigasociety. Looks like he got a bit lost. But some people are not techncially minded and expencing them to type commands is asking too much. When you don't understand what you are doing things can go wrong. Or you keep getting asked to install things on friends Amigas.
A friend had trouble with his P96 setup on his A1. I archived some files from my setup and put them in drawers so all he had to do was unpack and copy straight to his WB. However he unpacked elsewhere, picked files out and stuffed my work up! A simple script woukld have worked better and that is a simple example. Of course when instructions are not followed...
But, I've learned, the next best thing to an installer is correctly structured files in directories. For example, in this case, if it's a library simply create a Libs dir with the library inside. Then all the user has to do drag the Libs drawer to the Workbench, Done! |

Installing wazp by hand is so easy as it gets. Just copy and rename a file. If understand complaints for a lack of installer if this was more complicated. besides as 3 rd party project alain has no duties here. Complaining about commercial product would be more reasonable than about free add on. |

| Hello
@all Many thanks for your support
About making an installer: 1) I dont know how to write an installer... I someone know how to then feel free to contribute to this GPL project (Wazp3D) 2) It is so easy to install manually... Wazp3D has been downloaded more than 6000 times and very few peoples had install problems 3) Making an installer will not be so easy as it will need -Detect if WinUAE or not (real 68k amiga, other emulator) -If WinUAE then it will need to copy soft3d.dll to PC side (C:\WINAUE)
@amigasociety I think your install is correct 1) Copy Wazp3D-Prefs to your prefs drawer and start it : if it works then Wazp3D is correctly installed (but I think it is). Select Renderer:Compositing2D. Close Wazp3D-Prefs 2) Go to a drawer containing a 3D prog. Delete the wazp3d.cfg file if it exists Start the 3D prog.

btw new Wazp3D 53 will be ready before July

First they complain there’s no installer. Then they complain that application does not work.
Then I ask did you use the installer, did you read the readme, they say no, applications should work whit out being installed, and readme’s should not be necessary.
If you did not read the readme and you did not use installer you have yourself to blame, on old applications you should copy the files manually.
