Just a thread to thank afxgroup for the port of Freespace 2 to AOS4.

It works very well on my x1000 with Radeon9250 (failed on HD6670, therefore need certainly Warp3D), very fast, very nice.

Graphics are better than Freespace 1 (but sadly no more in french),
Good work !

Take a cheap 3CDs version from ebay and enjoy !

tips : don't install from 3 CDs but make iso images of it before. Otherwise it will take ages to finish installation (I have cancelled it after 3 hours and still on first CD)

@zzd10h

It took me nearly 2,5 hours to install it from CDs. And I think it works with Wazp3D, but not 100% (graphical glitches?).

@phantom
you installed it on your x1000 ?
do you have a Radeon92xx for Warp3D support ?
Or just wazp3d ?

And yes, for the installation time, ISO image is really faster ;)

@tlosm
Grazie mille.

@zzd10h

It was previously installed in my Pegasos2 G4 system and then just being transfered to X1000. I tried it under RadeonHD with Wazp3D on my X1000; works, but the text is missing in many areas. But it was very fast even on my Pegasos2 G4 before.

I have the 20th anniversary addition where only 2000 was released. I did try to install it but given up, as I did not think it was supported as it taking a very long time. But now I know this is normal installation for this game.

If it fail to install,it will most likely happen on the second CD as this contains extra missions,so when I have time,I will retry the installation.

@phantom
Thanks for precisions.

@delshay
Take some minutes to make iSO images from your CD, installation will be very fast

@zzd10h

i unpacked everything straight to hdd and just copied AFX's files over and it ran instantly, no issues what so ever.

btw, where is the "full speed" button located? , i know it says "\" in the game but on my logitech keyboard..well it refuses to go full speed so i can't get past the turtorial.

a while back when i used a different keyboard i had no issues what so ever with this.

thanks

@Toaks

Me too, I had to remap this key (by pressing F2) during game.
I personally use "0" key beside backspace.

@zzd10h

I had this problem with that "\" key in the tutorial. I remember that I had to tick-off the "Amiga keyboard" option in the Input prefs. (or the other way around, can't recall).

I have to say the Freespace games are probably the most enthralling, brilliant games I have ever played, great value for money, I keep re-playing the damn things from start to finish at least twice a year.

My favourite games of all time, such an excellent story line

@all

Freespace 2 is really great game.

But game has problems with Wazp3D on RadeonHD cards.
In action gameplay screen, you can only see 1/5 of the screen. Rest is black.

Looking forward to Warp3D for RadeonHD, so that I can play this great game once again..

The first freespace expansion pack SILENT THREAT is awesome,its a pity its not supported on the amiga,but if you can get hold of it you will not regret it. I ended up playing this expansion pack on a PC.
