@drHirudo

Wow, great work drHirudo! Can't believe I had missed Hatari on OS4 up until now, I shall be giving it a whirl tomorrow.

I've used it on my Mac and have still got my STe knocking about, all good fun.

Cheers,
Crumpster

@Rudei

Hatari means "danger" in Swahili. In Kenya, you see a lot of people walking around with the Atari logo and the text reading Hatari. You also see it written on yellow warning labels on electricity stuff like poles and junction boxes.

This weeks pet peeve:
Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

he he, missed this one too, it will be my next showpiece for the next time my cousin Carlo pays a visit (he got an Atari ST a year earlier than I got my A2000), I'm sure he will be impressed

@DAX

If you set the correct modes in P96, you will be able to get Atari alike experience for PAL modes. The same like E-UAE. Of course using emulator is better, because you won't need separate monitor for B&W and color modes, like the old Ataris needed, plus the same hard drive for Amiga and Atari.

In my Hatari install I have separate drawer for Atari stuff and I install Atari games directly in it, where they are viewable from TOS and Workbench. Handling the files on AmigaOS 4 is much easier though.

The Falcon is another monster. In some aspects it is better than bare Amiga A1200. Too bad that SAM will not be able to emulate it at acceptable speed. May be with the SAM 460, which is only about month and a half away from now.

The Falcon was a nice machine, to bad Atari decided to abandon it and concentrate on Jaguar .
This week I'm away from my Sam, but will be fiddling with it (a lot ) as soon as I get back

I managed to port the latest public version of Hatari - 1.5. It's gets harder to port with every new version, and the new cmake usage. Also the emulator becomes slower, but more accurate. On my microAmigaOne I have no problem emulating Atari ST, TT and STe, but for proper Falcon emulation, faster hardware is a must.

It's available from Amiga Hatari page. I did not upload it to OS4depot, because I prefer to have the older versions avaialable, for people who don't need the new emulator features, but want speed. I also recorded Hatari 1.5 YouTube video.
Enjoy

Thanks for your job.

@ribdevil

Fixed. Now the link works.

Damn those CaSe SeNsItIvE unix servers.

1.3 is good for ST and STe emulation, but if you want to test some Falcon software and recent STe demos v1.4 and 1.5 are much better in this aspect.

Thaks again.

I download the 1.4 and 1.5 , so I can test the speed of the 3 versions.

Today I've ported the latest version of Hatari - 1.6.2 to AmigaOS 4. As usual the emulation gets more accurate but slower. Still, the good old Micro AmigaOne plays the games without frameskip as seen on this video of Hatari 1.6.2 running on mAmigaOne

With the free EmuTOS included most of the old games crash, but some of the old goodies are playable like Turrican, Dogs of War, Rainbow Islands, Skidz, Moon Patrol and Vroom.

The Falcon emulation didn't work with the old ROM I used but works fine with the free EmuTOS, which is pretty strange. I managed to run only the Virtual Worlds Falcon demo, the others crashed with EmuTOS. I need to test and investigate the working combo.

The ST and STE emulations work fine at 100% speed only with little settings adjustment: Full Screen, No Border, Audio to 22 KHz and unticking the slower but more compatible emulation.

The newest version and the old versions can be taken from My Hatari pages

Enjoy

You use 4.xx ROM, right?

I've tested TOS 4.02, 4.04 and 4.92 and all they refuse to work with the Falcon system.

With the EmuTOS the Falcon works without problems.

I added blitter emulation and got more compatibility with the Falcon software.
Will stuck to EmuTOS for the Falcon.

Thanks to the latest port of CMake it was very easy to update Hatari to version 1.7.0. Now the Falcon emulation works better with any ROM, also some multicolor software. The emulator is getting more and more accurate with each release but also slower. The new WinUAE cpu core is hard to compile on AmigaOS 4. But it still works without Frameskip for most of the ST games, with GamePad, so no reason to not use the latest version

Nice, it's also quite fast on my SamFlex!

Would be cool if you can update DGen too

Today I've compiled version 1.8.0 of Hatari. Tested entirely on the AmigaOne X1000, Atari ST and STe emulation works fine. Falcon emulation is with Frameskip 5, but the DSP sound is working good as seen on this video.
