Any confusion is due to the morphine shots I'm on as a reward for impaling my foot yesterday. I recomend everyone should do this as you get free hospital food and sexy nurses tuck you in at night. (Though they might be a figment of my imagination due to the morphine)

I really dont understand why even have plans for a
industrial version.

People want a hardware where they can use easy avaiable
and cheaper DDR RAM, more then one PCI so they can buy
professional soundcards, better gfx chip, tv cards etc.
And a smaller board then XE. XC Was said to do this.

Many of the people that still are interested in OS4 of
my friends waits for this new HW and now little dissapointed.
I mean noone of them likes microA1. Some of them maybe
is going to buy it but they lost interest. Probably many
of them will move on to mos for the peg2. All hopes that os4
is going to be made for them. I mean they are cheap and you
get get cheap ram for them etc. And they'r smaller.

The best thing would be to make XC versions instead using the
power for the microa1. Microa1 is not a bad thing but it used
old hardware for getting expensive and hard to find memory
specially if you need more then 256mb.

People are like that. They want to do more with their machine,
more pci, new ram, upgrade it easily with new gfx cards etc.
I myself never liked this machine. Yes i love the size of it.
I own an XE and fixed also. And if XC comes i would happily buy
it and i think many other XC and microa1 users would do this.

Getting a bigger bach making it cheaper and a final os4 would
for sure get a good sell. You could take preorders and people
could sign up. When you you have everything fixed and want to
make them into production you send emails to check if people
still are interested. And then we could send money.
I dont know just an idea. Phase5 done it this way for their
to be G4 cards. I did register but then they was gone. No more
phase5 :( (ofcours i didnt send any money)

actually the micro A1 is the smaller board, the A1 is a mini-itx form factor board and the peg is a micro ATX form factor board (strangely enough) the A-One XC was/is due to be the Micro-ATX form factor A1.

Also since the freescale thing pegs have increased in price to be (also strangely enough) more or less the same as the micro-A1

The Pegasos used ibm 750CXe @ 600 Mhz, but Genesi doesn't have many left, sales ate the stock now.
Anyway I guess you wouldn't like a 600 Mhz chip. But it ain't too difficult to find CPUs on the market, just ask CE from Munich or Arrow or Avnet. The G4s ain't that expensive and tghey are available in small quantities.

just a little addition:

avnet sells MCP7447AHX1000NB with a lead time of three weeks. Quantities start from a *single* unit for around 190US$ and from a quantity of more than 100 the price drops alreadyy to 158 US$.

That are real world prices for low quantities. If eyetech wanna get cpus, surf avnet and order, simple, ain't it? 158 meight be a bit more expensive than teh 800 Mhz G3, but remember you get a G4 1 Ghz for that money!

G3s are available at other dealers, CE Munich springs to my mind...

The new IBM PowerPC 750GL microprocessor is now available in limited sampling. The 750GL features lower price and power consumption than the 750GX; versions aimed at consumer applications will be available in 800MHz and 933MHz speed grades.

The PowerPC 750GL is available in an RoHS-compatible, reduced-lead package. For pricing and availability, contact your IBM Sales Representative.

I wonder if this CPU is compatible with out MicroA1s ?

I did, and lost about 500 euro in pre-paiement. (I also lost a broken Cyberstorm PPC604, which is stuck somewhere in France where the dealer couldn't repair it himself and asked for a cheque to return the board. I have a now useless CV-PPC too.)
The PhaseV experience made me cautious about pre-paiements. I would now rather wait for a ready-to-use and available product.

I replaced my SX-64 with an Amiga 500 (+HD +RAM +At-Once) in 1989, then an Amiga 4000 in 1991.
I spent a lot of money in and around the Amiga (the 4000 alone cost a lot at that time). I did buy all the software I have (althought I must admit I played a few cracked games on the A500 ). I also pay for sharewares. With the amount of money invested so far, I could easily buy many A1. No regrets, I did (and still do) enjoy computing on Amiga (er... yes, I'm typing this from Firefox/Linux, but it's my A4000 that is transmitting the TCP packets ).

Well, I can still afford to buy a new machine today, and I will ! (One of these day, I'll have to replace my aging A4000). But I don't have anymore the spare time and patience to hunt bugs, search for problem solutions, update/upgrade software and firmwire, send hardware for fix, and so on. I'm just one of those users who are keeping an eye on what's going on and waiting for a (as) stable (as possible) enduser system. The OS4.0 seems close to a final release, and from what I read here, I'm very enthusiast to get my hands on it (I have a lot of questions about OS4.0, but I will ask them sometimes in another thread).
I'm a bit less enthusiast thought as to the hardware (early days bugs, I understand, but I wish to avoid having to fix/replace parts, incompatible RAM, ...). I was too waiting to see the A1-XC.

I know many people are recommanding to buy the A1/OS4 now to those who want a new Amiga, but I think I'll wait a little more to see what's to be expected in a (close) future (and avoid to install 3 OS updates )

That said... If Eyetech (/Hyperion) are looking for potential customer feedback: I almost for sure will buy the OS4.0 and the most powerful/complete and expandable machine available for it, even if that machine would be more expensive than the actual ones (that is, if I had to choose now between a micro-A1-C and a A1-XC, I would go for the XC).

I had plans to by the XC and nothing else,i like AOS4 a lot,but still i want hardware that is'nt obsolete. and i know most of the people i know,think the same way. they are all very impressed by the speed of AOS4(so am i) but still... Nobody i know like Windows or OSX either. The only hope i got now,is a AOS4 port for the Cell..

Well I have 512MB in my µA1-C. I payed 130¤ for it.
But the point is, I have more than 256MB.

I would also have liked to see a MicroATX instead of the MicroITX size.
One AGP and three PCI slots would have been REAL nice!
Then Eyetech could have removed the onboard audio chip & Radeon 7000
chip. Most people really want to buy better stuff anyway. And those are
quite cheap these days. Maybe also added USB2.0 & SIL IDE chip onboard
for better performance.

Wonder what Eyetech pays IBM for the 750GX? Premium I'm sure

Maybe 750GX is the faster chip if used fully (200MHz FSB) but on our
Articia S (133MHz FSB) I believe 7447A would have been the better
choice actually.
