@Slash

This is completely unacceptable customer service, although I urge you to stay with us. I have followed your project with great interest, and it would be a shame to lose a guy of your undoubted talent.

Best Regards,

Darren

Cr@p.

Epistula was looking cool. What a stupid case of bad luck. There are so many people with working uA1a but yours just had to go poop and now we all have to suffer.

@Slash

Ahh crap!

I'm sorry to hear this Slash. Epistula was certainly looking to be a nice little app. On a slightly selfish note, I was looking forward to it's release because I'd be able to get rid of my PC... Now it has to stay

I second Ssolie's question. What's the fate of the source code? If your AW.net account has already been deleted, I hope you're at least reading these posts. Could you contact an Amiga developer with the talent to continue your work?

All the best in your ventures.

FuZion.

Normally I'd suggest doing this as a last resort, but over 2 months should be more than enough time for either Eyetech or the dealer to sort it. The simplist way would be to complain to Trading Standards, or goto the local small claims court, just a small form to fill out and no lawyers or police needed. Although isn't it the dealer who's legally responsible for sorting out problems like this (unless Slash bought it direct from Eyetech)?

Yeah the solutions you propose sound better. On the other hand Eyetech seems to use dealers as a shield to avoid legal problems with the customers, but dealers should try to push Eyetech to respect the warranty.

@All:
Maybe some kind of bounty could be created so Epistula gets finished and runs on OS3/OS4/MOS/AROS? Using MUI it shouldn't be very hard... many people want a full MSN client (with file transfer support).

AmigaOS4 got Jabberwocky, dosent it? Jabberwocky is getting better and better. Though, such good programmer is something that Amiga cannot loose. This kinda reminds me of zapek and morphos.

There is something with this Amiga community. Users loves it, companies treats it as it would be air sometimes.

I have been at DCE, writing mails to Eyetech, Elbox, Hyperion Entertainment and Genesi. And to be true, the ones that repplies is infact Elbox, though the answer is allways a bit strange :) and Genesi... but they dont care about morphos neither.

I was promised AmigaOS4 from Hyperion and a Pegasos motherboard from Genesi. But nothing happends, or their words is full of nonesense.

I hope that more people stands up and mails or contacts these companies. Because without any action, nothing happends. Atleast a message is more than nothing.

@AmiDelf2

The problem with jabberwocky is that files aren't transfered directly between the clients, all files must be sent to the server and the server sents the file to the destination. That causes overhead in the server so most of jabber server admins turn off that feature. It's also slow as hell when it works.

A real MSN client like GAIM or Epistula allows you to use the real protocol and that allows you to transfer files directly between the clients, use avatars, custom emoticons, etc...

AmiDelf2:

May I ask why Genesi would give you a Pegasos?

Is it because of you making that Amiga-magazine?
How many subscribers do you have? No need to
sponsor anything unless you get the investment back..

Anyway, this is OT. Sorry about yet another loss for
the Amiga community.

@Slash

Never forget that there are still amiga users out there who appreciate the efforts developers like you have put into amiga projects. You did deserve better than this.

As users, we can't really do much about the situation either. I hope you will still keep your account here and on other amiga sites. RESPECT for the work you have put into Epistula, a program that, as i gather from reactions, was much needed on OS4 and looked, judging from the screenshots, very promising.

Maybe you should put it on hold for a couple of weeks and see how you feel then.

It shouldn't be like this for anyone, developer working on a cool app or not.

@All

I agree that Eyetech also provides terrible service. They should leave the building and let others do the job...

@Slash

Sorry to hear about your troubles with Eyetech but please reconsider leaving the scene altogether, it would be a shame to lose another dev.

Give yourself a couple of days then decide.

I second that thought.

@Slash

Please give us (your supporters) a little time to try and come up with a
solution, OK? There are -always- options.

Best Wishes,

It will not fix his machine thats correct, and nowhere did I say it would but at least he may reconsider leaving the amiga scene altogether, I know I'd like him to stay and not throw everything away.

This saddens me as much as the news about a new batch UA1s made me feel good.
I saw this christmas almost before my eyes, a new Amiga with OS4...BUT...

Hey if this is going to be how we are going to be treated when we get problems I can surely step back and wait longer. Smiply because I'm not going to invest 1000 ¤ in something I can't get a guarantee on.

Waiting is not a problem for me I waited 10 years so I can pop in again every year
and so just to check the status.

Why have a e-mail address if you don't read and reply to incoming mails ???

Not even a "we shall see what we can do for you"

@All

it worries me greatly as an owener of the A1G4XE if my board dies and cant be fixed
ill be forced out of the Amigaone scene as i will not buy a micro A1 EVER
we need full boards to be produced !!!!

I have been using amigas from a couple of days of there release many many years ago
i did have a couple of macs but sold them now and only have my A1 and ppc 1200 now
from what ive seen here the future looks grim in eyetechs hands
with the way they treat their customers

I am one of the die hardest amiga users youll ever come accross but even im getting disalusioned by Eyetechs antics !!!!!
