Yep - all new members have that now, to stop spur-of-the moment troll posts.

I haven't heard anything via email either. hmm, maybe he's just on holiday, or probably very busy with the next issue of GamesTM!

The latter I'd guess. It's probably quite close to going to press by now. being half way (ish) to the next issue date.

Darran Jones must be a very busy man. His team are now single-handedly flying the flag for the U.K, (and probably beyond), retro-gaming scene as, sadly, Live Publishing went into administration yesterday, signalling the likely end of Retro Gamer, the U.K's only stand-alone retro-gaming magazine.

Judging by the attendance at CGE UK, there's a substantial retro-gaming community nowadays, so maybe Darran will soon get his own mag, as a spin-off of GamesTM.

Anyway, he seems to dedicate a fair bit of time to GamesTM's forums. Maybe that is the best way to get in contact with him.

UPDATE!

The new issue of GamesTM (issue 37) is out today, and if you check page 156, you may see a small letter from a certain "Paul Laycock" i.e. me...

I wrote...

Due to your recent article on Putty in gamestm issue 35, great interest has sprung up on Amiga websites that Putty Squad may still be out there. Many Amiga users remember playing the demo which was released close towards the end of the Amiga's commerical dominance, and, though it's easily atainable using a SNES emulator, there's nothing quite like any Amiga, as I'm sure you'll agree.

If at all possible, would you be able to liase with Dan Philips regarding supplying his working version of the game to the Amiga community? As long-time Amiga users, we are used to disappointment, but any feedback you can give would be gratefully received.

Regards,
Paul Laycock

We're looking into this for you now, Paul. Sadly, Dan Philips is up to his neck in PS3 development so he's rather busy at the moment. Hopefully we'll have some sort of confirmation for you next month.

No problem. Amazing what a little email can achieve! Now begins the long wait for the next issue of GamesTM...

Great work Paul - let's hope this comes off. It would be a mighty deed if it did. :)

Good on you.
