Q:why not shipping the 68k
A: We cant ship anything what doesnt work under OS4 68k emulation. I recently contacted 1 registered Papyrus Office customer who has OS4 installed. We will see if it works with update 4.

Without hardware there is no development possible, we asked Hyperion for Developer System around May 2005, nice talking to Hans-Jörg Frieden but no Developer System until today.

Why not buying hardware ? Why should we? Why should OS4 getting an Extrawurst? Without that proper developer support from Genesi a MorphOS Version would have not seen any daylight also.

60 orders are the minimum to cover our development and licencing costs.

Furthermore this development system is not for FREE is for lend until port is done.

The 68k version runs well under Amithlon and UAE.

Requirements for 68k Classic Hardware 68040, 40Mhz 64MB free Ram FAST Gfxboard e.g. PCI or BVision/CVison

The coder has had an heavy car accident which resulted in a 7 months hospital stay therefore furher development of Amiga Papyrus is behind scheduled plan.

I've tested Papyrus (english version) under AOS4 update 4.
First Papyrus opens it's main window then comes a GrimReaper Guru, but if I press the GrimReaper "Ignore DSI" button, Papyrus continues to work!
Windows refresh is still too often but it's ok to work with.
Printing doesn't work at all! (I do have TurboPrint 7.16 installed)

I think Papyrus is on the right way, but when I worked with it (some lines of text, picture import, did some tables) a 2nd Guru often did appear which either crashed my A1 completely (Hardreset) or just Papyrus (Softreset)

Included is a link with screenshot (WB 1280x1024x32 bit) (I hope my provider doesn't block h elink if it's downloaded too often )

http://www.lnw.lu/GifAnims/Papyrus-AOS4update4.jpg

I really hope Titan/Mr. Garlich will get an A1 developer system! We really need Papyrus!

@Michael_Garlich

Hi Mr Garlich!

I understand your issue with hardware and making a native version.
But that shouldn't really be an excuse for making the m68k version
work properly on OS4. Or should it?

You're doing something illegal OS wise in that software because there's
alot of other software out there that work without any problems.

Btw why don't you contact Toaks and take him up on the hardware offer?

Too bad about your coder being in an accident. Hope he will be ok?

Btw I preordered the OS4 version. But I didn't hear anything from you?!
Are you waiting for official OS4 hardware before fixing the m68k version
of Papyrus to work on OS4? In that case, why?

@Samwel

Hi Mr. Samwel,

Excuse? Papyrus works properly under UAE, Amithlon and also MorphOS68k emulation. Its very hard and time-cunsuming to find out whats wrong with Papyrus on Os4 if you have no hardware for testing. Im currently in touch with one Os4 user I think we will have a solution soon.

Regarding:Toaks Company, I have contacted them 2 weeks ago but no reply until yet.

I beg your pardon, did you read the terms for shipment of Papyrus for OS4? They are clearly stated on papyrus-website.
We can start shipping the 68k version as soons as we fixed the remaining problems under OS4 emulation. But you should keep in mind that we are unable to create a native version until we receive a developer system.

@Michael_Garlich

hi, although dont have AOS4 for my self (because it is still not available). I Preordered the AOS4 Version of Papyrus (to use the 68k version at least until the release of AOS4 -- hopefully it will be available ever).

I really think of buying the 68k version, too, because it seems, that the AOS4 Version needs more time.
BUT: first i would like to know, if the 68k version is usable on an A4000PPC 604e/68060 with Mediator and Voodo4500.

Thus, can you give me some comments on the usability of the 68k-Version?

@AmigaKit

You wanted to present some review about Papyrus 68k. Is it functional and usable? Whats the speed like?

@all

Are there any experiences with Papyrus68k? Please share your thoughts about that program with me :)

@Amigaworld-Team

It is still not possible to login with Opera. Thats the main reason I dont post comments here :)
Can you fix that in any way? Can I provied some Debug-Output oder Test in anyway, so you can analyse that problem? (I dont have login-problems with other sites).

thanx.

nexus.

Its usable on your system, may you should consider the free powerup version of Morphos to get maximum Speed for Papyrus. Send me an Email if you want both versions included on your CD (68k&Mos). General speed issues.. the rule is easy: the more speed the better, just a hint try to work with Microsoft Office on a 50Mhz CPU

best regards
