| Now that i've got a near orgasm experience moving screens in all directions (it seems nothing at first but it was the reason I prefered to open all apps on the workbench before update 4. Now i can fully enjoy multiple screens, moving them when i want to read/write two things at once),
I've got a first list of things i'd like to be fixed for the final release: (because we amigans are in a forever quest for perfection :) )
_ The find command: it would be cool if the added paths were automaticaly saved. _ The Pop-up menu: should have the same look that the normal menu (eg: here normal menu have round edges with black borders but popup menu have square edges with white borders) _ When i edit Amidock, if the "hotkey" field is not active (because no object is selected) and if i click on it, i've got a "Amidock Problem: The entered hotkey was illegal" warning!? _ Amidock again: i'd like a "outline font", a "always on front" and a "show amidock on every screens" options... _ WBPattern prefs: why can we only choose between 8 colors? An option for having a gradient background, like in the GUI prefs would be nice too. _ AutoUpdateWB should be included. _ Prefs: more simple please! -> Merge "sound" and "ahi", merge all printer options, merge picasso and screenmode etc...
... ok it's all for the moment, the rest is perfect!

What an awesome job you & the team have done on this. Excellent work... Really! |
Thank you, I tried my best. Actually I am not satisfied with the results in every aspects, especially when it comes to Cinema4D. Yet I have some tweaking to apply, so hopefully there will be some speedups in certain apps in the final OS4.

Oh, hey, that reminds me. Maybe I should release that port to OS4 I did for NewsCoaster. .... Or, considering your results, maybe not. |

| Thanks for all your comments everyone,
As you can read, it was a spur of the moment thing & there's loads more to test out. Hope you liked the pics too. I'm still stunned by what HD-Rec was doing. More tracks & effects tonight.

My experience was the exact opposite. I originally tried to install over my existing and the problem I had was that once I was finished with the install, I could open up drawers, but I was not able to open up anything inside a drawer window. The moment the cursor moved over a window then the cursor would change to a cross with arrows in all directions.
I then loaded from scratch on a newly formated partition of the disk. Worked much better. I found the culprit though. It happened to be the commodity that allows you to resize a screen from any side of a window. When I ran this commodity from my old system backup it did the same thing. So if anyone else has that experience check the startup for that commodity program.
Haven't had too much in the way of time to spend playing with it, but I did manage to run the TVPaint program and I was really impressed with the speed. It is now my favorite paint program for now. |

I've got the same problem, it's because of the commodities AutoBorderSize, in your WbStartup drawer. You have to delete (or put between '()' ) the tooltype "MOVEWINDOW".
Oh, and to click on something when you have this cursor, press the Ctrl key._________________ [Z?] Tales from the dark side, spooky news and geek stuff. In french.

> Prefs: more simple please! -> [...] merge all printer options,
PrinterPS is the Prefs editor for PRINTERS:PostScript, it doesnt make sense to integrate that into Printer, the options would only confuse users that dont use the PostScript printer driver.
PrinterGfx is already merged into Printer, its icon is just a starter for Printer on clicktab page 2, the "program" itself is just a shell script for backwards compatibility.
> merge picasso and screenmode etc...
IMHO it never makes sense to integrate an "object editor" into an "object selector". You dont integrate a font installer into the Font prefs editor, you dont integrate an editor into MultiView, you dont integrate a keymap editor into the Input prefs editor etc.
Currently an A1 can only use P96 screenmodes, but OS4 on a classic can also use AGA, maybe a future version of OS4 may support CGFX screenmodes or SNAP screenmodes, so IMHO we should not merge P96Mode and ScreenMode.

I agree. In any case the P96Mode seems fairly redundant now seeing as you can just add modes to the Monitor tool type (see instructions how to switch to this method)
It is now very easy to properly set up new screenmodes without having to go through the painful P96 GUI.
Cheers, Bean.

You can do this. Settings/Save Settings in the Find app once you deselt and/or add the paths you want...

It should be shifted into Tools. It's a screenmode editing tool, not a prefs editor.
Oh, and there should be an option in Screenmode prefs where you can add select and change the screenmodes that appear in the monitor tooltypes.
Chris

Yes i had exactly the same thing and noticed if i pressed CTRL it would change to an arrow while i held it down. I formatted and started again also.
Now Ibrowse doesnt scroll using my USB mouse which it did before. Everything else works.

? Strange... with my clean install, the added path is remove every time a quit/relaunch the find command, even if I save the setting. :? _________________ [Z?] Tales from the dark side, spooky news and geek stuff. In french.

Nice write up there FuZion! Kudos to you sir!
I've installed Update 4 today. Overall, a nice update. The JIT is particularly fantastic on Cinema4D, which is also a lot more stable. However, I have had some freezing issues with IBrowse and a couple of Grims on the input.device.
:edit OT: Resi4... Mmm, nice! Is that the PS2 or GamCube version?
:edit2 Got some redrawing issues with AmiDock on bootup. The background doesn't seem to grab the Workbench backdrop in time to create it's "transparency". This happens from a cold boot rather than warm boot. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a219/amipal/Amiga/amidockgone.jpg Last edited by amipal on 09-Feb-2006 at 10:01 PM. Ahh heck, you're right. It does save which devices are selected for search, but it doesn't keep any additional paths added. Looks like a bug to me...?
