@Thematic

FINALLY Delitracker 2.34 is working with AmigaOS 4.1 Update 4!
You made my day!!! Thanks!

Screenshot

Heres a short description what needed and what to do:

1. Download Delitracker 2.32 from here (Aminet)
2. Download Delitrackerupdate 2.34 here
3. Install it an remove all Deligenies with the prefix "-Noteplayer", Paula-Noteplayer can't be removed from the list, just leave it there, it seems removing it will not save this state to the Deligenie-List.
4. Download AHI-Genie and put it into your Deligenies-Directory
5. Configure it to AHI Unit 0, if you don't want to lock other programs audio-outputs.
6. In Deliprefs set the checkmark to the "low chipmem"-field, then deliplayer just use the ahi-noteplayer and leave the paula-player away. If you don't do this you have to remove the paula noteplayer everytime again and again. In my case if i doesn't removed it or disabled it, it was locking my whole system!
7. Download Timerhack and put it into your kickstart directory (read the radme!)

Thats it, have fun!

@fingus

I found mods played in this way on DeliTracker to be somewhat wobbly, so I went to other solutions. Perhaps a matter of configuration.

@fingus

The correct way to do this is decompile Delitracker / Eagleplayer and fix the bugs.
I love to see HippoPlayer fixed in this way, simply nostalgically love that player.

Instead of patching the OS whit some thing that might result in some else not working as it should.

@NutsAboutAmiga
An even more correct way is to use a program which actually supports your OS (e.g. Tunenet), and write or fix the plugin for the format you want to use....

@ChrisH

UADE do it all, so IMHO the best it to put a GUI on top of it, or use UADE code in existing application.

Original hardware sounds best IMHO.

If you want to listen to all kind of weird tunes and formats they will play right on real hardware and sound right too. UADE/emulated Deli is not a good option IMHO. Tunenet on OS4Classic did not sound the same as unemulated Paula.

I had an idea to mount A500 motherboard as soundcard in PC/NG Amiga and having mobo as output player for mod-player (just like u chosed AHI0 for sound). But if it is not SID people will not take notice or care I found out.

@cv643d

Uade is the best we can get under os4, imo it's good enough.
Not like the real rthing, but close enough.

I have been trying to push for a uade based plugin for tunenet since 2006 or so, still no luck.
However, Salass00 recently ported the latest version of UADE to os4 (available on os4depot) so someone with proper skills could finally write a plugin. pretty please with sugar on top?

Well as soon as you fix the bugs it will support the OS better.

The biggest disadvantage in Tunenet is the missing "skip to next track in playlist at songend" for .mod, .xm, .tfmx, .s3m, .it...etc Formats!

And:

- Play on startup
- Remember last played Playlist item

that depends on the plugin. what plugin are you using for mod playback?

regarding delitracker and hippoplayer:

fixing these means a total rewrite as they are pretty hardware banging apps written in assembler, and the replayers they use are also written in very hardware banging ASM.

For those that say that they work on OS4, you are wrong. The basic interface might work, but only 1% of the supported music formats will play under AOS4. The rest will mostly crash your system, or if you are lucky just don't play anything.. ;)
Last time i tried they also had tempo problems. But that might work better now.
As they mostly only manages to play the music made in the .mod formats, they are not so useful, one might as well use tunenet or any other player for that, that is native.

rewriting these would take years.

UADE's approach is really nice. It uses the amiga replayers directly, so the playback is as accurate as on the Amiga. It actually emulates the 68k and paula, so the plugins in UADE are the same binaries from delitracker.

UADE is essentially a multiplatform version of delitracker.

@spotUP

I think you exaggerate: DeliTracker in its last versions has many replayers that both were "Noteplayers" and thus worked with AHI, and used timer.device for timing. But sure, I also got a tempo that's "half correct", on OS4.

Hi,

Is it possible to use powerpcked mods in Delitracker under OS4? There seems to no native powerpacker.library and the only way I can get Delitracker to play my old mod collection is by upacking them with pphack.

@RNS-Amiga-Scientist

hmmm i need to try Diamond player! :) , didnt know about this before now.
Plugin based?
how is it compared to tunenet and uade?

@all

why so many different players :(
Tunenet has a nice plugin system and anyone can write a plugin for it, should we put up a UADE plugin Bounty for Tunenet perhaps?

The ptplay.library based mod plugin has song end detection for .mod files.
