@Valiant

SystemX seems to work. I helped the author with bugs a little bit back in the early days, when I was still on my A1200.

Thanks for the info, jahc. Set up SystemX and it works OK. I'll probably need some help setting it up for Telnet access, but I'll start another thread for that.

Did you have FAME running on OS4 ?
I'm just asking because I was one of the core developers together with Strider, Bloodrock and Beatnik (maybe some of you know (tRSi-iNNOVATiONs)) and it would be interesting to know if anyone still have interest in running this BBS software.

If there is any interest I would try to make the whole package OS4 compatible in some way. I'm not sure if I can manage it to create PPC variants of the various utilities, and before start digging into this rather complex work I would like to know if it's worth the effort.

So anyone still interested in FAME on OS4?

SieGeL:
FAME runs fine on MorphOS and should work on AmigaOS 4.0 as well.

@ironfist

Does it run "out-of-the-box" on MorphOS ? I just thought that there are some "tricks" neccessary to get the whole thing up and running?

As soon as I have resolved my current hardware problems with my A1 I will install my old BBS on OS4 just to see how things are going. Also it would be nice to have the neccessary glue code for the various 68k libraries to use them to build PPC doors for FAME.

YES!... haven't seen you around for ages!...
If you ported FAME i'd be a very happy user.

Well it looks like my RAM Dimm is broken, which would explain the occasional crashes in the past. With OS4 Final and the new Mem System it seems to be much worse than on all previous updates. After running memtester I've got several failures reported, so I'm currently seeking for a new DIMM to replace my old one.

Anyway FAME on OS4 is on my To-Do list the next item after finishing the NetMon.docky app, on which I'm currently working. However with these random crashes it is not very funny to code currently

Don't know. Haven't played around too much with it yet... I need to figure out why telnetd isn't working on my system.

According to the readme it's supposed to be.

Yes, FAME does work after I finally got around to setting it up correctly. However, if you try to exit the main server it will crash and lock-up the system.

@Valiant

Did you have to configure any special tricks to get it working? Or do you mean with setup the FAME system itself?

Also it would be nice to know which version of FAME you've used.

And did you have made the mainpart of FAME resident?

I would like to write a small How-To to get the FAME system running on OS4 that's the reason why I'm asking ;)

Did any version get finished of /X? I'm wondering if it would be possible to port to (cough) x86/Windows - if only cos I have a box on 24/7 that could also be a BBS machine but its running Windows and I'd prefer to avoid having to run WinUAE to run a BBS again. I still have my old BBS backup for SigmaExpress (AmiEx 2.34 clone).

Would it be possible/feasible to port to x86/Win?
