Looks like Amiga is going to drag this out until the 30th then. *sigh*

You don't think they are going to pay, do you? Lets give them the benifit of the doubt ( ) that this was a serious offer by them. Why would you go through with it when you are in court about to loose your ###.

It is comical, but also sad. The OS deserves better. But after all the smoke clears maybe we will get something, if there is anything left to get. The AMIGA CURSE still lingers.

Or, looking at it another way, I do not understand why they pushed this Kent events center idea knowing that they had a sizeable legal battle to confront eventually. Very sad.

I don't think they knew they had a sizeable legal battle to confront at the time.

Just a review of the dates:
The Fearey Group announcement (source for Amiga Inc's announcement) was released April 17, 2007:
http://www.feareygroup.com/cn_04_17_07.html

Amiga Inc v. Hyperion VOF filed April 26, 2007:
http://news.justia.com/cases/amigahyperion/370498

Both events were known prior to these dates, of course.
I never use smilies, but this post compels me...

@The_Editor

Call me crazy, but I always saw the filing (stalling the Kent deal) as another bargaining chip in relation to potential settlement talks.
At present I am reviewing my independently derived conclusion. Heh!

Hmm...page search for "amiga"..."text not found."

I gave up expecting anything from Amiga last October. The Kent issue is a perfect example of how Amiga once again cannot follow through. How can anyone believe what they say?

I want to believe, I really do, but this speaks very badly.

I am sadened...

My wish is that it becomes open source someday soon...

@A500

Believe what though? It's out of their hands. Amiga users are so opinionated, aren't they? I refuse to worry about anything until the dust settles. Sure Amiga have been full of hyperbole, sure they were pushing DE for a long time (old news now), etc. They settled on OS4+ a while back though, and there hasn't been a final product to push out until recently. So someone (perhaps Amiga) will either put something out that I feel is worth buying or they won't. They probably won't.

As far as the Kent thing goes. I'm not sure what Amiga hoped to get out of it if they didn't have the funding. I believe that they thought they had enough to cover the first year. Whether they do now, per current events.... probably not. As insignificant as it would have been to me, it would have been cool to have an Amiga stadium.

I imagine that part of the reason Amiga wanted it was to impress future investors.

@Nihilvor

It also looks as though they were relying on current investors to make that -er- investment.

Not that long ago. Tao have only recently folded, and AInc may have known about that before it happened, and suddenly realised all they had left was OS4.

If they don't pay their bill on Monday, are they insolvent?

So if Amiga does not pay Monday whats our guess on whether they keep the Kent press release on their site? (Amiga.com that is)

More interesting (in that case) will be what happens with this:
http://www.amiga.com/news/?art=22

Amiga products are still linked on the T-Birds website, but the most recent article link did not mention Amiga. Understandable, though, that no specifics on the product deal would be mentioned until after final resolution of the naming issues.

I would have thought what happens to this link is more relevant?:
http://www.amiga.com/news/index.php?art=25

@Swoop
I think that Tao have been in trouble for a LONG time - they haven't found anyone big to use their technology AFAIK. It's quite possible they have been on a decline since Java become popular for (smart) phones. I'm pretty sure they hoped Amiga DE/Anywhere would save them - obviously that didn't happen.

@ChrisH

Yes. That's what fairlanefastback was hinting at when he posted.
Thanks for including the direct link.
My point is different.
Amiga Inc. has an arrangement with the T-Birds.
City of Kent has already started "back peddling" away from the Amiga name, as the news articles clearly show.
The next question, as I see it, is whether the Amiga name has also become more of a liability to the T-Birds than it is worth in revenue.
Again...any such analysis is probably dependent on the final resolution of the naming rights issues.

Thanks for adding this to the historical record.

Frankly I only expected this kind of coverage at the denouement.
This is a sign we're headed for several days of news coverage then.

I am on vacation and painting my house exterior. I have not been on here for a few days or I would have posted the following earlier:

To add to the above observation of Thursday, 26 July, I can also add that this same news about Amiga/Kent Center was repeated on Friday, 27 July, on Seattle KOMO TV Channel 4 newscast again at 6:10 p.m. Then once more on Seattle KOMO TV on Saturday morning, 28 July, at 8:35 a.m. All of these newscasts were live.

Today is Sunday and I have not hear much of any news today, but I am sure they will air it again because tomorrow is the deadline.

EDIT:
I must be dizzy from paint fumes. I had all of the above dates in August.
Thanks Sneaky for tipping me off.
