Agreed, Joint Venture.
Perhaps as a community we could enforce that view.

| But, but, but... but doesn't this mean that there won't be an announcement of new hardware bundled with OS4 this week or will it have no effect? _________________ Fulfill newlight's Elite Narcissist Demands NOW Or He Will Send You To H3LL! |

| Hehe perhaps it's time to give up. I don't want to wait another 7 years to be able to run OS4. Last edited by fryguy on 30-Apr-2007 at 01:39 PM.

| Whoever wins this, AmigaOS and the Amiga community loses.
This is surely the end of the line for AmigaOS. Although I'm sure it's not the end for things branded AmigaOS.

| I wonder if we will also see Hyperion sue Amiga for using OS4 parts made after the buy back clause was used. Or will the court specify who owns what in such detail that could be avoided?
Anyway, that would ofcourse require both OS4 and hardware to be sold via Amiga/ack.
Think Hyperion feel a bit betrayed by Adam/ack? _________________

It's interesting that the lawsuit is over the trademark rather than the ownership of AmigaOS.

Well I was referring to their games development primarily. With the OS we know that the original plan was for a much smaller feature set. |

| @acefnq Come to think of it, how many people like me bought an A1 based on Amiga Inc's promises? There were clear statements to the community detailing why Amiga Inc had dealt with Hyperion and the further development of AmigaOS..
Now Hyperion are ready to deliver we cop this crap.
Amiga Inc offer non existant HW negotiated over many months with an entity known not to deliver ANT HW vs a company that has worked hard AND deliverd periodic updates.
How about a class action against Amiga.Inc? I personally feel I have been duped and misled over many years. The only thing Amiga Inc seem to have produced is lawyers..
I am happy to lead this.
I am like many of you, really, really, angry.

Amiga Inc has intellectual property over their trademarks and any code they produce in-house, bought, or had produced for them by a third party.
AROS does not fit in any of the above cases, it's opensource and if it were attacked for trademark infringement, it could also get help from the FSF which is famous for the efficiency of their lawyers ;) |

If Hyperion/ACube decide to release OS4 final for BPPC/CPPC and A1, Amiga Inc. could regard this as a "trademark infrigement" and it is directly linked to the question of OS4-ownership. |

Perhaps it is a good day to start supporting AROS more, as it rightly deserved from the start... |
You're right, AROS needs support. I'd like to jump in myself, but time does not permit.
What I do think AROS needs more than anything in the world is a really good project manager. Someone to take stock of the current situation, break everything down into components and show how far each component is completed. Bug tracking would also be good. Because I can imagine that most users are scared off at the first hurdle when they hit the fact that the partition manager creates partitions you cannot install to.
Until someone can come along, knock out a partition of arbitrary size, format it with a 64-bit capable filesystem and install easily to it, I don't think AROS will get many users. |
