ACK won't show photos of PowerVixxen: we don't know why

Maybe we do. He have said he put a lot of his money, time and efforts to Eyetech and MAI. Then he put a lot of money, time and efforts to create those PowerVixxens but he couldn't get OS4 license from A.inc. Maybe he's not a millionaire and run out of money. Now he's making 68k emulator to make those boards useful. So it's an honest question. Would you or anybody here make such photos to please few individuals when you can't sell your devices to anybody at all still ?

You just do not get the point... He multiple times promised to show the hardware and broke them all. He even promised to show some photograph for a certain date, but that too never happened.. The excuse was something along the lines of his dog eating his camera.

Just showing some photos would do him good, as it would prove that it was not all a complete hoax. I have no problems with people staying silent, but when you announce something you should follow it up.
He currently looks like a lier/troll to me, due to this simple fact that he announce something one day and then go silent. Most of us can understand that issues can happen, but he has told us that he had working prototypes of the powervixxen and yet cannot show a simple picture as promised. How hard can it be to snap a photograph and up it to a free image hosting site?

@swoodall

U-Boot 1.2 for the AmigaOne was produced by Hyperion but is still undergoing testing.

Wow I’m looking forward to this new u-boot update

Err...yes. But you need to get your computer back in order to install it.
(in my opinion of course) Heh!

@All

Well i guess i let the cat out of the bag didn't I. For those of you at Hyperion, i'm sorry. I like the look though. Very nice. For the rest of you, your welcome.

P.S. Don't PM me asking what it looks like or what changes, if any, there are. I already promised to keep quiet about it and i will.

Oh please! Bidding starts at 50,000 USD at 10k increments.

Then again, yeah, i agreed to keep quiet so i guess i have to. Maybe I should have thought this through a little longer.

@fairlanefastback
So do you think we should be quiet for the next X weeks, while we wait for ACK to (hopefully) return the final (of 3) boards? And should we set any sort of "unreasonably long delay" deadline?

We have established that ACK has serious problems keeping any promises related to deadlines. I think it is safe to assume any reasonable deadline we set will quite likely be broken, considering the hatschi list history (huge amount of unkept promises) and the few successes of this summer being so much late each and every time.

I don't think we need further proof of this. I would keep following on it so that the final people with boards there will get theirs, but I have to concur with your earlier assessment that even if ACK does ship all the fixed boards, their inability to follow their own deadlines has been proven so many times already that we should just give up on trying to believe any better of them. It is up to them to prove otherwise if they plan to change their behavior, until then we must assume ACK can't be trusted to keep their announced deadlines.

At this point, I'm finding it very hard to believe the ACK machines announced ready for this summer actually will be ready this summer, but we'll see.

I only wondered about a deadline (not sure what consequences for breaking it though!), because both times ACK has only posted the board 2-3 days AFTER my (personal) deadline, when I either had started (or was about) to make a big fuss. No doubt that's a coincidence too

I think we have had good things happen recently in the return of the 2 (of 3) boards so far. And while ACK's own self imposed deadlines were exceeded by the company I think there is an indication in these actions that the third board will make its way back to Kneedeep. I think ACK is also well aware that the longer it takes on this the more likely these threads about it will see greater activity again. Providing some quiet time I think is a positive gesture on our part personally. I want as much as anyone for promises to simply be met but I think its worth recognizing an improvement on the part of ACK.

Its going to be an interesting month I am guessing with Summer coming to a close soon...

Fair enough, I'll give ACK breathing room (and others may like to do so too), and we'll see if he can still come-up with the goods... It's not like I don't have other things I'd rather be doing!

Great news, happy that you have your board back and then some. Adam is working on my next and I hope that it will ship this week.

Any news last week or this week?

Kneedeep also said this:
Quote:
So, if my board ever does show up I shall let you all know, but please put your efforts into something that will be a positive return.

I think we should respect Kneedeep's wishes on this one.

Hmmmm, my wishes are that efforts will be made in a positive return. At this point I am not sure how that plays out......

My recent talks with Ack are about getting my board shipped. He has worked on making repairs and it comes down to one USB port not working. The agreement was one last attempt to repair the USB, then fixed or not, off with the board.

I think that would mean shipping the board this week...... Now, the wait.....

@jtsiren

Back in June I promised, as an incentive to ACK for following-up on announcement(s), to buy an ACK/Amiga machine if it shipper this Summer. I set September 15th as the deadline. I guess it didn't ship? Unless I missed something, I assume so much for that - a pity. But I'll certainly be on the lookout until the end of official Summer, September 22nd?

Quote:
I'll actually up it one notch. I promise you guys - not announce, I really promise - if ACK/Amiga delivers the hardware, available and shipping by end of Summer 2007, say by September 15th, I will buy one of the $489 units just to acknowledge they made it this time. I think this is only fair given all the discussion here.

The price doesn't have to be exactly that, just in the ball park. Specs can also change a little. It doesn't even have to have OS4 on it, I will gladly accept if it only runs Linux, but it has to be, overall, the ACK "Entry Level Design Details" machine and be openly available for general consumers to buy. This will be my small carrot.

Deliver on time this time and I'll walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
