Looks awesome! But, i must be missing something. I didn't realize Amithlon was this attractive an option since it was halted in 2002 with those "legal issues". I seem to remember umisef posting recently that Amithlon was horribly out of date, but this looks pretty darn good to me - how does it compare to a boot exclusive UAE? Is this the 2002 version, or has there been updates since then? Also H&P now longer sell this (as far as I can tell), so how might one go about obtaining Amithlon now?

The Kernal was updated in OCT of 2006

My System is very FAST & UPDATED

@umisef

Gwenole Beauchesne (maintainer of SheepShaver and BasiliskII) has shown interest in checking out the 68k->PPC JIT.

"Is this a recent declaration? It has been a long time since I read
him working on a PPC backend for the JIT and he designed the code
with that target in mind. This is mostly useful nowadays now that we
have a testsuite, though not for FPU instructions yet. This would be
a good start though, to check the individual translated instructions
semantics.

I plan to change a few things in the JIT code and it would be nice
indeed to have a look at his PPC backend.

Bye,
Gwenolé."

@eastone

No news from any side.

I guess that there would be more chances of seeing improvements in the PPC JIT if it was already opensourced, even if it has some bugs. It seems not many coders are brave enough to claim they'll fix the bugs Bernie didn't have time to fix.

Most of the world doesn't know that Bernie created a JIT and that he's waiting for an experienced coder with some free time to fix the bugs, but I guess that "asking" and perhaps later finding out that it's much more complex than they thought may be embarrasing for the coder who asks him.

I hope Bernie releases the m68k->PPC JIT as-is in the future so not so experienced coders can take a look and perhaps learn from it. Otherwise I don't see many coders approaching him Having something that "almost works" would be good motivation to continue learning and perhaps some day fix the remaining bugs

Too bad that Amithlon being abandoned. It was surely very promising. Is there any possibility to find and download it and try it by myself?
