@rzookol

I do :) But even so if it was real it is most likely an illegal post and should not be used anyway. If you have it you should delete it. Or maybe it's a virus? who knows.

Yes it would be illegal because of the IP in the download, but you would actually have to buy a legal copy of OS4 Classic because it seems the download only contains the Mac Mini specific files.

I already have OS4 Classic but no PPC board. If I had a Mac Mini I would have quite a clear conscience about running OS4 this way.

I doubt I'll bother with it though, as I am typing this on OS4 anyway.

@Rob

If it requires the A1 version then it`s not really the thing we`re after though. Even if it`s real.

@Frags

AFAIK the only difference between the AmigaOne and Classic versions is system specific stuff and some components in the Classic version are newer.

looking at the file list posted here, it appear that it has everything you need to make either the Classic or A1 version work on Mac Mini.

I wonder what those files are? Although they have similar names to OS4 Kickstart files, they are different (names) and most of the originals with those names are hardware-agnostic.

Since many of those files don't have to be changed for different hardware, I can only assume that this is a pirated set of the original Kickstart files.

It may be that some of the files are modified versions of the OS4 originals, modified by outsiders, but that does not excuse their release.

Here's a list of the files that aren't present on the Amiga One version.

BATTCLOCK_RESOURCE_VIA.KMOD = BATTCLOCK_RESOURCE.KMOD on A1 Version.

DBDMA.LIBRARY

DOS68K.KMOD

JXFILESYSTEM

KERNEL_STRIP.SILENT

KERNEL_STRIP.VIDEO

LOADER_MM.SILENT

LOADER_MM.VIDEO

MACMINIIDE_DEVICE.KMOD

RAD_SAVE.KMOD

RAD_STUFF.KMOD

VIAPMU_DEVICE.KMOD

It still isn't confirmed as to wether or not it works or even contains real OS4 binaries.

Considering the current situation, I would have a clear conscience too. I have a Mac Mini, but not OS4, or that file. I would buy OS4, but without that file, and knowing if it really works, well . . .

Must have been sleeping when it went up . . .

As I'm sure others would, too.

Think about it.

Download 'patch,' buy OS4 classic, build new ISO, install on mac mini, and off you go.

Hyperion profits from the OS4 sale, and while ACube won't see any profit directly from 'Moana,' they'll still see some profit as the distributor of OS4. Everyone 'happy,' cept of course AI.

There are worse things that could happen...

THIS might be of interest to you guys

(assuming severin is truthful)
edit: And with the help of this information you guys might even figure out who the confirming dev is.

Here's the info so far. He/she was watching a movie at 23:37 finish time, or 22:cet. Reasonable that he or she is european then?

Sounds like "the pig is out of the bag" as we say in Swedish....

Maybe it is only a question of time before we see it working properly on the MacMini and anyone can buy a copy of AOS4 from Hyperion and then "crack" it with this file and then run it...

Yeah, but they removed the download file . . .

I don't care if any of them are happy. It's their fault (AI & Hyperion) that we are in this mess . . .

As the Intel mini can run PPC binaries, what else would be required to get it working (Intel GMA 950 graphics driver)?

No, it can not run PPC binaries. OSX can.

I still don't get it. There are filenames there that have not been part of OS4 for years, and filenames that sound very like current files. I'd like to see some dates and sizes before I made up my mind whether it's a hoax or not.

I don't know what the ACube (?) people did to get OS4 "running" on a Mac Mini, nor how much of it runs, but I'm sure that if it ran the OS at all, we'd have seen some screenshots by now.

If this "AmigaMac" person was a real developer, it's hard to believe that he'd release other people's real development work, particularly in the current climate.

In other words, I'm sceptical. I think it more likely to be a hoax by a troublemaker.

@tonyw

I got it, I burned it and I copied the files to my A1.

Most of the files in the kickstart-dir are pretty old.

And while the Radeon.chip is of current version and date
it is about 400 bytes longer than what I have in my kickstart-dir.

The macminiide.device is not stripped.
And when stripped fully it is 80720 bytes which is close
enough to the other ide device-drivers.

Whatever "kauai.device 51.58 (05.09.2006)" means.

Edit: now this is interesting:

http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=kauaiata&arch=macppc

Now I wish I had a mac-mini to test this with.

In any case it's illegal since the .iso seems to contain files from OS4.
Even if the copyright for some reasons does not apply to the special mac-mini files if they are the real thing, it does apply to the OS4 files.

I'm sorry, but is that file still available somewhere ?

I feel kinda bad, as it might be illegal but when not a hoax it will seriously boost OS4 classic sales.....

What does a 2nd hand MacMini cost nowadays ? Surely they will get more expensive IF OS4 could run on it....
