@jahc

maybe you should disable the button (until it disconnects/fails) when it's trying to connect, that way users won't click it various times

@Crumb

Good idea. I'll do that.

I gotta get motivated to finish File Transfers. the code is nearly working.. then I just gotta make it more modular to allow for multiple transfers.. then make it work in both directions.

@jahc

wow!!! File transfer would be absolutely great!!! You are progressing very fast!

And file transfers will open the door to Avatars and maybe custom smileys, then I'll be happy

I am very interested in having a good MSN support on OS4.

Sorry, I didn't read fully all the previous posts ...

Slash : Epistula is very nice but the last time I used it (for MSN) it crashed when exiting. If the plugin sources are available, maybe I can compile it in debug mode and see if I can find the problem.

Jahc : Thank you for this new program, I hope it will have the most features that are possible to support.

If some MUI classes are not rich enough, maybe it will be possible to improve them !

@corto

Alfie sent me the sources of his gif animation player mcc (that is based in the AWeb plugin) and I sent them to the NList maintainer, but if somebody wants to improve NList send me a mail and I'll send him the sources

@Toaks

I appreciate the donation, but to others: please dont send anything more until I've actually finished and released some new versions. I'd prefer people to donate for whats available, rather than what might come..

Thanks :)

There is AmiMSN for AOS3x.
There is also the option to use Jabber or Bitlbee on IRC.

I'm the author of AmiMSN. Last time I ran it, it worked fine. Let me know if there's any problems connecting and I should be able to fix it up fairly quickly.

Yes, I know about the crash on exit bug, and I can't pin it down, well I haven't the time at the moment but the only way to stop it happening is to disconnect first, then close.

Files can be sent and received. Local transfers over a LAN wont work
for now though. The code is not yet modular, only one file can be sent
and recieved at a time from each person. Configure your File Transfer
port range in the Settings window, so you can use any ports you've
opened up on your firewalls.
The "cancel" buttons arent hooked up yet, and the ASL requester for
choosing a file to send halts the program (it isnt asynchronus).

EDIT: Whoops forgot to mention, it downloads to RAM:

Nudging would be a cool feature, I dunno if its possible with Amiga windows.. (i.e. setting the window position randomly and quickly to give the appearance of shaking).. I definitely want avatars.

Yes of course you can move windows just like you can resize them without problems.

@Slash

Good to hear about your plans to continue Epistula development, I agree with you though that having several people working on the same thing is a waste of developer resources which we have too little of on Amiga now, but I think it's fine for jahc to develop his own app, and you can still help each other, share info/experience, or even code, while developing your projects in parallel. For me I chat with people on MSN and ICQ so I definitely need a program which supports both of those protocols, so please keep up the good work with Epistula

@Slash

You should also make available the resources for creating plugins for epistula. I would like to try to make one for Google talks! Just give us the resources.

@jahc

For 'nudging' you could use system 'beep' function (i think it is called that way) and flash screen for ~3 times.

@thread

Tweaked file sending code, and altered the cleanup of the contact list
when connecting to the server. Some users were not visible in your
list even when they were online after a reconnection sometimes.

Let me know in this thread if the file transferring works better/worse for you..
Pidgin doesnt work with Sabre, I think it uses the other file protocol (MSN has 2 different file sending protocols).

EDIT: The invisible users in the contact list isnt fixed yet. I need to investigate further.

@MickJT

Did some further testing.
If I try repeatedly, eventually it works.
