@ddni

it does work but you have to designate the ports and also open them in your mode/router firewall.

do some more tests with it, it worked for me in the end so.

Did you run it on OS4 or on OS3.9 ? (i see you have a BPPC thats why i ask).

@Toaks

Hi Toaks, I ran it with os3.9

I will look into the ports that need to be opened. Are there any in particular?

@jahc

Yes, the default for Nlist here is background black and white caracters, for all my MUI programs with Nlist. I think It's only my default settings (untill now ????).

I think with sabreMSN here: white caracters are good but I have white background, but the settings on default for Nlist for the background is black.
Maybe a mistake on the code, for the background colors, with Nlist on AOS3.X.

Just tried sabreMSN with .iff gfx. open the emoticon window take...8-9 seconds !!! (and finally less time with previous version/small gfx).

just tried yam 2.6 and all the icons are .PNG 256 colors and yam 2.6 have black background and white caracters. when opening yam 2.6 settings (with 20 .png small icons), the window is opened immediately and no problems (with the background for the .png small image). same with the 10 big icons on the main window of yam2.6 (allways on AOS3.X).

maybe the solution is png 256 colors or a problem on the code for opening the emoticon window ??? also sabreMSN and YAM are tested on voodoo3-P96-800x600x16.

About Paypal: correct here but wrong page on the PC at job at midday. (have a page with just remake the payemant and go to main paypal ??). will test tomorow if same.

I'm just bad with ibrowse here. must valid the ammount and after enter my paypal MDP. You have just received a big Paypal payement for the work done for the amiga and for the futur of sabreMSN Enjoy !!!!.

About Yahoo: No problem if not possible. I have just imagined a possibility if yahoo protocol are open source or look like near MSN or some source for yahoo protocol are available somewhere and could be easily used,... for adding this feature easily but no problems for me if no interest/wish, for you just ask...

Now I need to have precisely to port numbers or range to be opened on the Modem/router....

EDIT: I'm talking with a friend on his PC at the same time writing this answer,with sabreMSN on AOS3.x, and thats work well for him but he allways see at at OFFLINE and he try to send me a picture but not work for him. he use: msn live messenger 8.5.1302.1018

EDIT2: File transfer: try to send a file with sabreMSN. Sabre said: waiting for connection. MSN live messenger said: transfert delai expired (not work said my friend). Must open all port or more for transfering files ????

my friend is killed !!! he used before his PC a A1200, he, he

bye

@ddni

see the settings menu, just put in ports there which you know is open or set them to something you can open easily.

good luck, let me know how it goes.

tested this midday on the PC at job. click the "donate me" and fall back to a page (the french paypal page) with: click for retry and return to main page - 2 underlined normal html menu.

But the link work well with Ibrowse 2.4 last day (when I have donated to jahc)

It seems to be incompatible with some clients. Sabre to Sabre seems fine, I can send to other MSN Messenger users. Pidgin doesnt seem to work though. Theres at least two file transfer protocols in MSNP9, and I only implemented support for one, and its not totally complete yet.. it doesnt attempt to try connecting to local addresses when provided with that information, it will only try the WAN/external address..

All I can suggest really is that you make sure your ports are open. But it seems (as it often does with internet file sending) that it may be a little hit and miss as to whether it will work for people.

cut'n'paste what I have said on my previous message:

EDIT: I'm talking with a friend on his PC at the same time writing this answer,with sabreMSN on AOS3.x, and thats work well for him but he allways see at at OFFLINE and he try to send me a picture but not work for him. he use: msn live messenger 8.5.1302.1018

Impossible to receive or send to a PC user with msn live messenger 8.5.1302.1018, for your informations

Question: If port allready open (fastrack, openFT, gnutella,...) on the modem, sabreMSN work (and just add the ports pn sabreMSN settings) or need to open special ports. Think sabreMSN should have a good explanation about ports because maybe some like me don't understand well

@Mrodfr and All

for file transfer open the ports displayed in the SabreMSN settings

from 1025 to 1035 UDP (i guess is UDP only looking at the log in the router)

and about MSN chat, my router have an option to open IM ports (no clue which one ... 1863?)

Fact is that (using these settings), with MSN on the PC connected all works as aspected (probably thanks UPNP also), while from Amiga (Jabberwocky and Epistula also) i can't use any of my just created accounts (framiga@live.it .... framiga@hotmail.it and framiga57@hotmail.com)

Does SabreMSN uses the default port 1863 for chatting?

Does it requires some custom setting in Roadshow? (users-groups)

I'm still asking because i have everything that uses a TCP stack working but SabreMSN (Samba-SMBFS-VNC-p2p-mail-web etc)

Open TCP ports for the file transfers, not UDP.

Also, the chat switchboards do use port 1863 to connect.

Open 1025 to 1035 TCP and Open 1863 TCP on the modem (NAT settings). It's 100% good informations ??? No others ports for others things or futur planned features on Sabre ???

Ask that because open ports settings not work on ibrowse here and must take the modem and go to job for opening the ports

BTW, I have chatted with my friend with sabre without opening ports 1025 to 1035 TCP and 1863 TCP on th modem/router ????.

Opening ports and the good numbers and TCP or UDP or both for lots of differents protocol existing isn't understandable. If you have a good internet link for ports to be open, I'm interested....

NOTE: this page exist: http://portforward.com/cports.htm but MSM messenger is not the same ports: 6891->6900 ??

I have tried both WAV datatypes from Aminet and it seems they don't recognize the samples very well. The oldest one for example can't recognize the compression used in newalert.wav and online.wav

What about using iff sounds instead of wav ones for the m68k version?

BTW, it may be a good idea to ghost the add/remove contact buttons if the user isn't connected to the MSN network. And it would be a good idea too to ghost the button while SabreMSN is trying to connect to avoid clicking the button while the connection is in progress.

I have noticed that if I get a gethostbyname:undefined error or something like that it doesn't matter if I clik again the button as only that message will appear.

"Open TCP ports for the file transfers, not UDP.

as you can see in the log (file transfer from the PC) both TCP and UDP are used

Jahc has updated SabreMSN:

2008-06-24: Alpha 22
- SSL context is setup once instead of every time an SSL connection
is made (which is usually twice per login attempt)
- NList object is set to quiet before reloading chat history

On AOS3.x: the nlist colors are broken. when loading mui settings for sabreMSN:

- I could change the colors caracters to black and colors OK.
- I can't change the background (white by default) to another colors. Allways white (with use or test on mui settings).

- Save the black caracters on MUI settings and quit sabre and reload sabre and same white caracters to white background (impossible to read here, you have all understand that).

emoticons take 10 seconds to sow the window with emoticons inside (would like to remember this point and more time to wait than with png icons on the first release of the aos3.x version).

SabreMSN is built on MUI. Go into the MUI Settings from the Settings pull down menu, and set the Window settings to "save on exit" or something similar.

@thread

I'm a little reluctant to post updates on this thread, because the changes are getting smaller and less ground breaking.. avatars are too hard, so I'm probably not going to support them..

2008-06-26: Alpha 23
- Commented out an SSL certificate verifying thing, which seems to make
the OS3 executable work on MorphOS now. Also, it seems to have less
connecting errors now.
- Updated the images for the Contacts List
- Created a MorphOS archive with the OS3 binary, and OS4 images

Well, only tried using SabreMSN properly last night on OS4, and I have to say, I'm well impressed. It feels good to use and did what I needed. File transfer didn't seem to work when trying to send to aMSN on OS X but I only tried once. Didn't give any error messages, the request came up in aMSN but nothing transferred. I might try the OS3 version later on...

Just a suggestion, but would it be possible to have an option for the main window minimise into a docky when the close button is clicked? Similar to how MSN works (I cut myself off several times due to this )

Thanks for the great work!!

Can you share the details of that? What exactly is too hard about it? Is it encoded in some special format, or does the transferring of the avatar data require some difficult to implement protocol?
