@Hans

The impressions are positive, but was much better if i can put on my uA1 a Radeon 9250 with 128/256 MB, the standard Radeon 7000 32MB is poor, now i wait some new programs for os4.1 features.

@SOFISTISOFTWARE

You can use a Radeon 9250 PCI with 256MB. You have to disable USB and IDE DMA, and then it will work. This is not an official supported configuration, though.

From Icon Lib Documentation:

Icon image scaling
==================

In Release 4, icon.library supports scaling of icon images. Icons originated
from a loader module for a vector file format will be able to benefit from
the most accurate scaling their loader module can provide. For normal raster
icons, icon.library will perform a manual scaling, with smoothing on hicolor
or truecolor screens.

Applications can ask icon.library to scale an icon (down to 8x8 pixels, and
up to 256x256 pixels) at load time, or to generate a scaled version of it at
a later time. An icon can also be scaled on-the-fly by requesting it to be
drawn at a particular size; this won't affect the original image data stored
in the icon. In this case, the scaled imagery is cached and reused in order
to speed up any subsequent rendering of the icon at the same size.

@SOFISTISOFTWARE

To be honest with you I can't really notice a difference with IDE DMA turned off. You could give it a try if you have a spare 9250 PCI lying around.

there you go. OS 4.1 on microA1 with onboard radeon 7000 graphics and Radeon 9250 PCI 256MB. IDE DMA and USB must be turned off for reliable operation.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A SUPPORTED CONFIGURATION. USE AT OWN RISK and always have a backup of your data :)

Mod's note: Adjusted the size of the photo

@SOFISTISOFTWARE

Cool. Does it support Blu Ray? Flash animation/movies? Does it have a Web 2.0 browser (decent CSS, JavaScript)?

No.

IBrowse's Flash plugin will play some flash animations, but really not that many. Flash video doesn't work at all, although if you download the .flv files you can play them in mplayer.

Yes, OWB is really starting to become a good browser.

@xeron

No Blu-Ray. That's just sad. :(

Just noticed Vesalia shipped mine. So.... maybe in 2 days.

Finally things are happening on Amiga :)

Sad the boot partition can't boot in JXFS. I'm looking forward to that day.

@thread

While we are ALL very excited to see images coming out, can I remind our users of this from our Terms of Service:

Quote:
Images in threads: Images embedded in threads should be no wider than 640 pixels, larger images should be hyperlinked.

I would suggest putting a small thumbnail image and a hyperlink to the larger image.

If images appear in threads that do not conform to the above, I WILL be resizing them as I come across them.

If you need help resizing, (don't laugh! Some people do!) then simply send the image to my e-mail, I will resize it to conform and send it back, and you can link to it however you like.

Kind regards, Yo

@Speedy

I doubt an Amiga One has the cpu power to play a bluray movie anyway.

@fryguy

You don't know that. You can't prove it :D

Besides, i ran BD Movies from an onboard i945GM Chipset on a Core Duo 1.6Ghz.

MPEG2 was fine, H.264/VC1 was kinda lagging a bit :P

I'm sure A1 wouldn't do worse on Radeon 9250.

Not for movies perhaps, but for data it would be very useful.

You are not kidding I hope?

Anyway, even if a dull workaround, this is the first time I have heard PCI-gfx working ok in MicroA1
