That should be easy to fix. Not easy for me to test though because I have no friends with UTF8-names.

Are you completly mad ?? Lazy ?? You are one of the most prolific coder we still have !!

I chat on IRC and use forums all day every day.. I dont think I've touched my source code for any of my projects in about 2-3 weeks when I've had ample time to. Trust me, I'm lazy!

I second that & would add you might be better at programing then you beleive.

Parsing text and inserting them into listviews is not real programming work!

If you've gotten to the stage of being willing to let someone else take over development, why not make it open source and give EVERYONE a chance? That way anyone with interest can have a go, and you don't have to guess who might be the best person to take over development. (Not to mention that people can combine their efforts, rather than forcing one person to do everything.)

Okay, you guys have convinced me. :) I'll setup a sourceforge thingy later.

I might keep my current nlist objects, and just add colours to it. Time to copy+paste+modify some wookie source code I think. :)

Aha, I had code for that, but I had accidentally fed the destination string to the codesets.library functions instead of the source string. I'll try and make an effort on that colours functionality over the next few days. I'll have to think about the design.

I think maybe you have found the problem if I understand well but I would like to precise again that with all tested codesets here, the friend answer is:

?i?µ?-?@? says

and:

%£§¶[ø£; is currently typing a message ( %£§¶[ø£; is an example).

all the messages from my friend are good but the sabreMSN automatic messages aren't good here. This problem is just with my friend, maybe with his adress with some _ inside.

as kicko, my friend, said: Keep up the good work. Whatever change we are happy :)

Yes I understand the problem. I have a function that converts peoples name strings with URL-codes to normal ASCII, but at the same time it was supposed to convert charsets too.. but in my charset conversion I had mixed up the source and destination strings. So it was equaling NULL and just had no effect.

Have you ever considered getting PC?

Personally, I'd consider jumping off a cliff first
If we all get a PC, what would be the point of being here in an Amiga forum? We would all be in a PC forum asking how to get rid of the latest PC Virus and repair the damage it did.

You're absolutely wrong here, mate. It's not the PC that's a virus it's Windows, that is as it has spread to nearly 90% of all desktop computers worldwide! The funny thing is that people actually pay for it!

You Swedes are not alone in that. It is common language nearly everywhere!
A pity, but it is.

** Font colours are coming! I just have to get motivated to work on it. This
** is just a minor release for the time being before I do some real work.
- The logfile is closed when the chat "switchboard connection" ends. So
when new messages appear, the date string appears again. This is useful if
you want to know the dates of conversations when sabre has been operating
for a few days.
- The charsets are converted properly for peoples names in the "user is
typing a message.." alert. at least, I hope its fixed now

Do you think writting multi-line messages would be possible? On msn you insert a new line pressing shift+return and you can move the cursor in the text edition field with the cursor arrows.

@Crumb

I'd have to find a different class for the input gadget, but I dont know if theres anything that would work in a similar way to betterstring.mcc.

Why about releasing SabreMSN as open-source ?

- You wouldn't have to worry about it
- Any interested developer could fix it/improve it

If no one is interested, well, no one would make any changes.. But at least it wouldn't die on your harddrive, and there is a chance someone might improve it now or later. If you keep everything close there's no chance it can happen..

I don't understand.. are you trying to talk me into open sourcing SabreMSN? I already stated in post #21 that I WILL open source it.

Thought you were only interested in sharing the source with some interested developer, not releasing it for everyone.. At least that's what I got when reading the first messages... That's a good thing then! ;)

Whoops, yes.. you were right. In post #1 I was looking for an individual.. but in post #21 I changed my mind and decided I will open source it. But I just want to get some features in there first. :)
