@COBRA

If you go to the project page for the bounties you will find that there in the top is a link to "view updates".

Marcin set the deadline himself when he wrote me that a release would be 99.9% certain before this Christmas.

But we have had a deadline all the way and it has been pushed for various reasons like we had no AmigaOne for Marcin, deadline has just not been public.

@Troels

It's good to see Sputnik for AmigaOS 4.1 too. But again, I think that at the end we will return back to iBrowse.

As I recall I donated over 100 euro for sputnik

Before i start claming my money back, I would like to have a real update.

Like where the project is now... what needs to be done and so on.

The update on the bounty page is not a real good one.

I think we been keept out of the loop for too long now.

If you Troels could ask him about that, I would be satifyed for now.

Dead line? In Amiga world? There is no such a thing! Nobody cares about delivery dates in this amazing environment!!!

Did you all forget is a "hobby", here nobody is responsible for anything!

I'm going to start collecting a postage stamps ;)

@RWO

You don't have to convice me ;).

The Amigabounty website is TRULY needed. Coordination and collecting money RESPONSIBLY is needed.

If we will be supporting each of guys one by one the will never get to the point that program will be more that usefully "beta version".

Example: DVplayer this is really nice program with huge potential. Person involved in this program is TRULY working on it. Yes, I know he ask for money for registration, and in my opinion this is reason why he is DOING some updates.

Now, think if he could get this $3000? After one year, we ALL have fully functinal DVD player. AND yes, I would PAY this $30 for registration!

The same OWB and other ESSENTIAL software for just a users and for "keep Amiga alive" in our houses!.

Later we can thing about some stuff like video/music editing software etc.

Ps. This small thinks like playing mp3, DVD's, web browsing keeps this computer USE FULL. I can change icons in my Vista too :P

Hi,

hmmmm .. if i remember .. looong time ago .. i ask the same
question [transfer the bounty from Sputnik to Jörg/OWB]

I see nothing have changed in the Time .. the one side thinks
his browser is the "only one" , even it is long way to finish.
And the other side WITH an good browser have waste the money
AGAIN -> Amizilla strikes back .......

It is not i dont see the better and amiga liker way that sputnik
have in her philosophy .. the same is going for the MOS idea of
A-Box/Q-Box concept .. but the idea alone help NOTHING is nothing
real get out of here !

@R-TEAM

I may not have got your point fully, but anyway...

Both OWB and Sputnik already exist and have a long way to go here, so your comparison to the amizilla project is kinda pointless. OWB needs a better GUI and more generally browser functionality around the webview, and Sputnik mostly needs updated Webkit engine and non-flickering layout (and yes, ibrowse may do it fine, but it's still not trivial, much less trivial than rendering in a few bitmaps).

I'd say the real advantage from OWB is that his porter seems to have way more free time than marcik at the moment. :)

About your ABox/QBox reference, i'm not sure what you imply. Abox and Qbox have been existing and working for years. That QBox hasn't been exposed to userland is hardly relevant.

The point is that even if Sputnik on OS4 existed today in the same state as the latest MorphOS version, it just couldn't compete with OWB. It does have a few things which OWB doesn't have yet, such as the download manager and tabs you mentioned, but when it comes to speed and the ability to display webpages correctly and bug-free, OWB is much better, and since such little progress is being made on Sputnik even for the MorphOS version, it makes no sense for me to support Sputnik, and I would rather support OWB instead.

How well does OWB perform with http://www.vg.no/ ?

It is one of the sites Opera uses for testing.
I tried it with Sputnik some time ago, and Sputnik did perform impressively well back then, and since then there has been a few updates to Sputnik.

@tomazkid

OWB 2.18 was fast on www.vg.no, but I got a DSI error, I ignored it and was able to continue browsing, no lockups.

I was asked to post an status update here, so.

Work on sputnik version for OS4 has started about 2-3 months ago. It's already compiling and many important parts are working (like network code, font rendering). The biggest current obstacle is hacking MUI 4 part. I hoped to resolve them before christmas, and as it's the last big problem release some first beta but i failed. And i have 2 news. A good one: i know now how i can get tie my code into older MUI. A bad one: it'll be a rather big redesign and with my current free time it will take about 1-2 more months to complete.

@marcik

Thanks for your honest update Marcik. Better late than never I say. I'm looking forward to using Sputnik on OS4.1.

TBH of all the browsers, IBrowse is still my favourite,but lacks a number of features needed to view many modern websites.

@Thread

I hope the money of the bounties are not staying as is on a Paypal account.
At least on a bank account, the interests will rise the money by 100 euros each year.

No. It seems even the author lost interest in MUI.

And you claim that on what basis? MUI for MorphOS is constantly developed.

@kiero

Because I think I remember MOS coders saying Stefan Stuntz would not reply to emails.

@elwood

Have anything to back up Your claim? And even if he doesn't answer emails, does it mean he lost insterest? Stefan is often away (recently even for few months) but he is also not only one doing work on MUI (he is the one doing most significant changes tho). If anyone have programming questions there is #mui on irc.freenode.net where you can try getting answers about mui programming (it's not mui support channel!).

Oh, and it's MorphOS, not MOS:)

@elwood

Attempts have been done to obtain the source and work on MUI4 for AmigaOS4 but Stuntz is said not to answer any emails.
