| i got a mail from amigakit to expect news on thursday.
Fingers crossed that'll be it :o)
I think the people involved are genuine people, so if you phone up and ask a direct question they'll probably tell you directly what the problem is.

| @Nostromo I am wondering the same.. I ordered in november and i am still waiting on my board. I dont see why it should take so long to quality check a few boards and i am honestly getting tired of waiting now. I am starting to think they didnt produce enough boards. |

| I really don't understand what is happening:
If there aren't Sams avaiable, this could mean they've sold all the mobos they've produced...nice! .. .. .. but not so nice if they produce Sams in batch of 2

I suspect that the number of boards they make is quite low. There aren't many amiga people left nuts enough to spend mad kind of money on hardware.

It could also be a matter of money - let's say the mobo manufacturer (if it's a third party that makes them) wants payment up-front. A batch of 50 mobo would at a production cost of ¤350 mean that Acube should prepay ¤17500.
I don't know Acube's financial situation but given the fact it's a rather small company ¤17500 is a lot of money.
Just my guess! _________________ Maintainer of www.bigbookofamigahardware.com |

| @Tomas This does seem ridiculous. While I appreciate that ACube seriously underestimated demand + the current economic situation may mean they have less choice in who can manufacturer their boards cheaply, it is still a stupidly long wait. Allegedly they have fulfilled over 75% of their back-orders, but I'm not sure this is born-out by people waiting on AmigaKit.
I honestly think that ACube should be up-front about why there are serious delays (even if it's "we have 2 people hand-soldering these boards because our previous manufacturer went bust & the other options are twice as expensive"), and give us some kind of realistic timetable (even if it's "another 2 months until we can fulfil all back-orders"), rather than keeping people in the dark until they get really mad & get a very bad view of ACube. So, I've to consider myself very lucky that I bought the SAM board from the first batch (from AmigaKit).
Anyway, ACube has to give some information to the customers asap. It's being so long time, I nearly thought that the second batch from AmigaKit was already shipped, and this was the third or fourth one! Anyway, a friend here told about the 17.500 euros. For a company, when they want to call them a company manufacturer, this amount is ridiculous. My car worth triple than that for example and I'm not running a company business manufacturer. Perhaps, clothes for kids, are better solution to earn money! Last edited by Phantom on 14-Jan-2009 at 05:33 PM.

| Acube makes these boards for a very small market: they can't risk to have a lot of boards unsold, so they probabily must make small quantities. And, I don't think that Acube earns a lot of money from one SAM... these boards are made in small quantities in the EU, not in China... so, they're not in the condition to risk something more... _________________ A1200/020+68882 - 6 MB RAM - AmigaOS 3.0

Sure, but that's not telling me anything. I'm sure they know that Vesalia and/or AmigaKit or another distributor have already pre-paid for these boards, so why to risk? They have already the money for these boards. Really, how many people are waiting already the second batch and how many they already cancelled their order? _________________

That's wrong, we don't have already the money the various resellers took from all the preorders...
Just to clarify some points rised in this thread:
- as of today we delivered 85% of the boards the variuos resellers paid us for, and 99% of the back orders single users bought from us - we restarted delivering boards from Jan 5 - next 7-10 days resellers will receive another small stock (AmigaKit received one today) - there is a 4th batch which will arrive us approx 3-4 weeks - there is the first Sam-flex batch which will arrive soon after - most of the delay were caused from delivery of the 440ep CPU (16 weeks lead time....) - it seems to me that, in good faith, some resellers have took to much paid preorders without asking/organizing with us in advance about it

I dont understand how it should take a month to do the quality testing and then end up shipping only a few boards which is not even enough for nov pre orders. |

At least. Some good news and info. Now things seem to be more clearly. Thanks.

| I got my Sam440ep system some days ago!
So ACube delivered a least Vesalia with some new Sam's. Unfortunately Vesalia got not all boards that they ordered. So it's hope for you (as Nostromo mentioned already). :)
