@Thread

I just checked to make sure that I hadn't posted already on this thread and I haven't.

The strength of AROS is its ability to run hosted on top of other operating systems. You can run AROS software on Windows using hosted AROS for Windows. Same goes for hosted AROS for Mac and hosted AROS for Linux. Of course they all run the same code since they are all Intel systems.

AROS native is pretty fast too and supports 3D acceleration using the Gallium3D drivers but that's not what I'm waiting for on an AROS system. What I'd like is a hosted AROS that will run AROS PPC apps on AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS 2.x. AmigaOS 4 users won't switch to MorphOS and MorphOS users won't switch to using AmigaOS 4. What might get them thinking is that if they can run the same software on both without having to go to the effort of even having to port the code once it runs fine on PPC AROS.

I want a common denominator for all systems that acts as a compatibility layer and little else. Niether AmigaOS 4 nor MorphOS deliver that.

@Samurai_Crow

nice idea but i dont think os4 and mos users would be as grateful as you think for such a solution.

edit: why? because they would have to run aros on top their systems, and have to sacrify the advantages of their native systems whatever they are to foreign solution. a good similar example is amicygnix, which is considered handicapped solution, slow, not integrated well, not feeling amigalike... you name it.

@wawa

on a second thought i think it is good that aros gets developed for ppc, not as an extention that might run hosted on mos or amigaos, but rather native multiboot option. it would be a good fallback in case any of the said system should fail in the future.

The only part of that, that makes any sense, are the first five words.

@amitv

This poll is old now. To be fair you should open a new poll that reflects the actual situation.
