If there is a demand for this poster I will provide the graphic to AmigaKit or Amiga Future to produce.

would be awesome if it came with a special edition of AF when the first X1000's are released

Whats the hold up where are these X1000s the A-eon site has been a ghost town for months how about some updates already. I personally know two people on the beta tester program that attend the User group I go to and they haven't got there X1000 yet I am hanging out to see one in the flesh here in the land down under!

@TrevorDick

I wonder how far the NDA goes regarding betatesters for the NEMO.

Are ther aloowed to show family and friends that they have it ? Or even show them runiing OS4 ? Or the insides ?

And are those friends and family alowed to spill the beans on what they saw or heard to the public ? Or are they automaticly under NDA aswel ? (I can show you, but I would have to kill you )

Cheers

Martin

@Metalheart

Seems that NO ONE has recieved the board yet. I assume OS4 is not ready, since from hardware side X1000 seems to be Varisys board (that already had the mistery CPU) with added XMOS and XORRO onboard. From SAM experience AmigaOS seems not to be ready and software needs to be tested with hardware, not only hardware (people somehow tend to forget this)

However, its CUSA unfair and non bussines, that A-EON is so silent and doesn`t even apologize.

I hope they don't have to wait until summer.

I was sure that beta boards had no XMOS? Or maybe it was just evaluation boards.

In real world you get paid to test hardware and software. In Amiga world you need to buy (SAM) or prepay (X1000, extra NDA to make it extra juicy) for your beta board and test it on your own.

We have a saying in Poland. It goes something like this: "...and they beat up Negros in your country". It was "our" govt. response to USA mocking our poor economy in 80s. You know, not addressing what's wrong at our end, shifting topic to others people problems, because two wrongs does make it right.

Dont worry we have the similar saying. I don`t say any is right,
just that somehow resemble in uknown.

Yes, the evaluation board just might be the plain Varisys.
Then the delay is even more mystic.

I agree with your stance, but X1000 desire is so great,
you actualy get to cover the expense of their production.

Nice world Amiga world

I recall Trevor stating that he wished not only XMOS, but a "use" for it to be available at the time of release.

@number6

But didn't the last revision had no XMOS? It may be shipped as XMOS-less board with USB dongle.

I think the non-working board in the clear case at VCF had the XMOS chip fitted but not the one be used to demo OS4. Maybe revision 2 fixes an issue with XMOS on the boards.

I read on another forum that Hyperion says the X1000 is nowhere near ready for release.

@opi/Rob

This all I can find from pre-Amiwest news concerning the topic.

Quote:

We are pleased to announce that we have finalised the design of the revision 2 "Nemo" motherboard. Following an extensive testing programme, as well as implementing a number of minor hardware fixes, we have opted to specify an upgrade to the "Xena" XMOS subsystem to provide greater functionality and performance.

Added: then at Amiwest there is the talk about the toolkit for XMOS.

If I find more, I'll add. It speaks to intent. I can't predict future reality.

@OldAmiga

Its CUSA dinner time, not related really,

Base board already exists, XMOS can be fitted via PCI and USB,
I believe AmigaOS needs rework to fit the major league of board features.

So I believe its more soft then hard thing ... as we see OS 4 is not fully supporting
less complex SAM 460 board, that has been presented first time as demo board on Italian Amiga show I believe like 2006 or so ...

It seems Hyperion needs more funds/time, but they are also silent.

The 460 old proto never received not even an attempt of an AmigaOS port. Work on current board is based on progress made on the 440 series + new efforts.
Sata driver is the next big thing to add.
USB 2.0 Sirion driver I have seen myself at PianetaAmiga2009, so it exist hope it will be finalized in the next update.

@DAX

Thanks for the update. 440 and 460 are identical CPUs with different clock rate, cache, RAM support, PCI-E etc. so it shouldnt be that hard. RadeonHD driver was made out of Hyperion house, so I expected more.

I remember USB 2.0 support was demonstrated, so I hope it will really make it to first next update, for good of all!

No idea what hardware you're talking about here. It can't be the A1-X1000 because that has an XMOS chip on the motherboard with a direct connection to the CPU.

@Hans

it might not be a bad idea for A-EON to give some indication on production progress at this point. i'm seeing odd rumors and misinformation all over the place, and it's only going to continue without some sense that things are continuing and people will actually see this thing shortly.
