@NutsAboutAmiga

Uhhh, I made some mistakes, but my brave A1 survived it all!

Arrgh! I just noticed that the PCB has a stupid bug in the write protection for the first flash ROM (which you shouldn't program anyway, as it contains the backup firmware). Nonetheless I fixed it in the schematic and the layout and reuploaded the design archive on our uboot-amigaone sf.net project homepage.

@Geri

Better off buying the Xena machine then? (thinking so;)

Please inform if there is any help for an XE with this by PM.

Right today there's a thread on Iksnet from a guy who's interested to know if there will be any update for A1's UBoot, he'd like to have support for secondary IRQs in UBoot added. so there's still interest in this project from various users.

The issue has never been whether users are interested.
Whether Geri can shed light on what he has done so far in a summary, is up to him. Taking it further than that is well...up to someone else.

I know, I know... my post was solely to help motivate Geri a bit, even if he might not need it :)

What exactly does he mean with secondary IRQs?

Besides that we need help with the development. I hate it to say, but Bill and I are busy with other things, too. So if there is someone that wants to dive into the U-boot source code and starts working on it, he or she should step up now.

Well, I debugged the DualUBootA1 and fixed my broken A1XE in the last weeks. The PCB is working fine now in my A1 and the next step would be to design the PCB for the uA1 (as soon as I find the time for it). Also on my TODO list is to write the tools to create complete firmware images (those that combine the U-Boot image with the Radeon BIOS and other things). Hyperion didn't deliver these tools with the U-Boot source code, so I hope we can write our own.

My motivation is not the problem. It's more the amount of hobby projects that have to share this motivation.

Me too, that and the relatively small amount of time to go around.

Work still ongoes at its advertized glacial pace.

I'm currently trying to compile the sbc8641d board package as an example that my tools environment is correct. This used to work for the ELDK environment 4.2. ELDK 5.0 is now out, and I can't compile this board for either. part of why I chose the sbc8641d to prove everything is that it uses the x86 BIOS emulator.

I don't at the moment have my XE set up, though I am gradually trying to clear a place to put it. I dont' expect to sit at it all the time, I'll try to use it via VNC from my laptop, and to do coding and compiling on the laptop, only copying things over for test. Geri sent me a dual flash board a while ago, I need to find a spare chip laying around and install the thing.
