It is even less interesting than it used to be, no snowman maker or anything

All I get is:

I guess I am not missing much unless they are planning a new T-Shirt scam.

"I think I can guess what's going on!

can be translated into:

Commodore plus Amiga = A joint website

PS
I'm just guessing...

Unfortunately that's the biggest problem, and there's no easy way out of it. Complete Java and Flash support would be the best bet to get a bunch of new apps immediately available. With an up to date browser you also get web apps.

Java-yes, Flash-yes, and web browser-yes! Any current projects for these?

1) A MiniMig fully bundled with ADFs of old A500 games and with save game SD functionality enabled

2) Sam 440 Flex with a fast enough CPU to give backwards compatibility with OCS games & a chance to sample the new OS!

3) Yes, why not an Amiga in a joystick with bundled games!

4) A mug and T-Shirt

4) A retro coupon deal scheme or sponsorship deal for a local stadium!!??

5) AmigaKit (according to their website) still has A1200's for sale.

Market opportunity:

I'm a PSP owner and not satisfied with it. It's underpowered, the controls are cumbersome and I can't do anything with it that Sony doesn't allow me too. The DS is even more limited, since it's a toy for children.

Create a handheld with superior hardware, state of the art gaming controls, powered by a fast, effective OS like AmigaOS, make it an open platform (i.e., basically free to develop for) with great development tools. You could also comission remakes of well known Amiga games exclusively available for that. You mentioned Shadow of the Beast. That would be a good candidate.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought of this. AOS is the perfect lightweight OS for this type of project. The screens are small enough that most of the old games could be played on them without too much pixelization.

The company that's probably making the most money out of all of this is Cloanto with their Amiga Forever application.

Maybe Amiga could be used for Data Processing purposes since there is now a modern ODBC driver.

People are playing old games, on their phones, ds's and psp's.
We dont really need a retro handheld.
Could amigaOS4 power games comparable to a PSP?

Wrong: the CBM USA agreement has been announced: http://www.amiga.com/news/2010-08-31-commodore-amiga-aio.php

... and the Copyright has been updated to 2010 ;)

That's huge news for "Amiga" :)

@pavlor

Wow, and I can still log in with my Amipass, would you believe. Not that it gives me anything extra over someone without an Amipass, of course.

The website looks the same as it did before it went offline. I find that to be really strange indeed. Does this mean that it's business as usual, i.e. Amiga Inc are going to continue as they were before? If so, why the long period of absence from the website? It's not like it would cost much money to keep that basic website running there.

I was expecting and hoping for something different I have to say. But, in any case, this old site is better than it being taken over by a lesbian porn site. But... that's about the only thing I consider it to be better than!!!

AH.

@pavlor
have i missed something ?
in what amiga inc or their website being back online is a good thing ?

last thing i knew was:
amiga inc are the one who attacked hyperion, they tryed to kill os4,
they had no plan for amigaos whatsoever. most of what they ever said was just lies.
(and not just to this community, remember the kent arena joke for example)
they never did anything good for this community.

and !c=usa looked very similar to ainc so far.
1st they plan to sell windows machines with an amiga/commodore sticker on it (this is insulting).
then they seemed very agressive on the forum. bad pr, only bad business practices so far ..
their only connection amiga was with aros, and they decided to not support it.

have i missed something ?
i wouldn't even consider their product (beside the fact it's just plain PCs)
they can only bring bad image to the name it seem to me.

what's the interest here ?

Or Hyperion tried (and actually did it) to steal OS4: how "good" is that ?

@Leo

From copyright point of view and deadlines. From developers point
of view, Amiga Inc did nothing for OS4. In fact last time they mentioned
OS4 was that ACK with their copyright will provide new PowerPC Amigas.

Also, in the past they promised Personal Paint and Amiga Forever for OS4

So, for OS4 users, their cooperation with Hyperion was most promising,
and as they say in the web site "licence was terminated December 2006".
Tbey just don`t mention the settlement outcome.
