Hey Jamie, nice to see you're still kicking about. Any new projects in your future? Mobile apps seem to be the current rage.

@Rudei

Hehe. That got me thinking about ParNet.

Amiga on Amiga action. Oh yeah. Too bad my A500 is troubling me. In the middle of moving and have moved all Amigas. A500 refuses to see both floppies and the harddrive, so basically it's a dead parrot.

Gotta go to QXL for some shopping, I guess

Lesbianas español, there's a difference! vive la différence!

Godaddy will at some point put the Amiga.com domain up for auction. At that point it belongs to the highest bidder, ie the bidder with the deepest pockets. It is rumoured that Lesbianas español offered Wayne more than the US$10K he got from an anonymous supporter for Amiga.org. There is no Wayne at Godaddy, it will go to the highest bidder and it will be more than US$10K (¤7500), likely far more.

How much is Amiga.com worth to Hyperion or Amiga computer enthusiasts? Amiga (computer) users are an inbred group, they all know each other, having the domain would be nice but at the end of the day it doesn't mean any more customers, it doesn't mean serving your customers better, it's like a vanity rego number on your car, it looks pretty.

You can wave goodbye to the Amiga platform ever getting fresh new users if we can't even secure the 'www.amiga.com' domain!

Despite being defender of Amiga Inc and its actions, i have to say this situation seems bit worrying.

I hope this all just means that something very good is happening at Amiga Inc. But i definately wouldnt bet on that.

but couple of possibilities that come to my mind:

1. Hyperion or AEON or whatever acguired Amiga.com on that legal settlement and they plan on rereleasing amiga.com when they get their X1000 out to support X1000 as being THE new Amiga and new beginning for Amiga.

Although I would like this otherwise very much, i have to say, i would feel sad for Bill McEwen and guys, since it would then seem that theyve been left out from everything.

2. I once changed my Hosting provider to new, much cheaper and better, one. And when i informed the old hosting provider to transfer my domain to that new service provider, they never did that. They didint even do it when new hosting provider contacted them on that issue. They even got automatic reply confirming their contact and sending to was it joker service thing request to get that domain, but they never gave it.

My site was down for 3 months because old service provider refused to give me my domain. Or didnt actually refuse to give it, they just didint give it.

Only way i could have got it up had been to sue them to court. Which lawyer said i would definately win, but he also pointed out that first of all it would take time to get court decision, and secondly, i wouldnt get more than max 200 Euros from that hosting provider due to Finnish laws.

So in pracitce i could do nothing else but wait those 3 months for my domains next payment to come and get it then for myself back.

that old hosting service company is now gone and done, and no wonder if thats how they treated other leaving customers too.

Maybe Amiga inc. is having similar situation. I doubt they have, but its one slight possibility as well.

I personally hope all is well at Amiga Inc.

@Bugala

In the end, who cares? Godaddy couldn't verify Amiga Inc contacts, AI's phone was disconnected, their email didn't work, so Godaddy turned Amiga.com off. All Amiga Inc has to do to get back online is call Godaddy, give them the new contact details and pay Godaddy US$19.95 for their troubles. Godaddy will turn them back on in a matter of hours...

I'm not sure when you experienced this problem, but there is a binding protocol between domain registration services and if one party does not comply the registrant can force the transfer.

Either way, the likelihood of this being a hosting conundrum is about zilch. This is a company that basically existed on paper for a decade as a tax write-off. The sincerity may have been there on a personal level but the whole exercise was one big extended joke. This last episode is just the punchline.

Well JK was (is?) a very valuable asset for the AmigaOS community, let's hope he gets back at least...

Ye and have you tried taking this further? I had a big dispute with Streamline.net (NEVER use them, google to find out why). My co.uk domain was registered with Nominet and my com with Tucows.

I contacted them both regarding the problem and neither of them even bothered to respond.

@Amiga Community

I can now officially announce that I was in secret talks to buy Amiga Inc, lock stock and barrel. Contracts were drawn up and a price agreed.

Unfortunately they were not able to give me change from a five quid note so the deal fell through...

He is sworn to secrecy! If he keeps quiet until 2020 he will receive the last remaining Amiga Voucher Scheme T-Shirt and a 'Fleecy the Sheep' fluffy toy!
