Why? The best thing that could ever happen is some shell of something holds on to the "Amiga" trademark for all eternity and doesn't let anybody use it for anything. All of the three main OS's stemmed from AmigaOS (AROS, MOS, AOS4) are distinctly different though part of the heritage and I think it's best for the community that no group gets to claim to be the "one true amiga". _________________

| Well with certain companies, usually they promise jam tomorrow with stock options, so all the developers who got paid in stock hang on in the hope that if they don't talk "the company" down in public the stock will go up. Of course, as the stock isn't public shares, the value that is "estimated" for them is completely arbitrary. Plus, it helps if you actually get someone to reply to your requests to exercise your stock option on the price they "estimate" for it.

| @koft Amiga was never dismissed nor open sourced. The owners (Amiga Inc.) had planned two developments, their "anywhere" idea, and the continuation of more classic Amiga renditions through the production of AmigaOne Computers and AmigaOS. The latter part of the business was handed to Hyperion and Amiga inc while still alive and in full ownership of other things (they just filed against another attempt to patent "amiga" related trademarks, 3 week ago) is forbidden to create something even remotely similar to what Hyperion is LEGALLY in charge of.
So your post is as out of place as its ignorant (in the sense that you "ignore" the legal status of things and are trying to de-legitimate Hyperion not only here but on other websites too).

Hyperion may have "settled" the court case, but it is my opinion through years of observation that how they got to this settlement and how they have conducted business since 2001 has been questionable or dishonest. I'm sure there are business legal terms that describe this better, but I'm not familiar with them at this point.

So you are now trying to legitimize what Hyperion has done on the basis that they won the court case? |
Neither you, nor anyone else in here has enough information to pass judgments like this. It was a complicated story, and we know how complicated business matters can be. (That's why it ended up in court, after all.) You are in no position to impose moral imperatives on Hyperion. You shoud keep words like "dishonest" etc. in the bag.

I was a developer who lost everything due to Amiga Inc and Hyperion. If I'm in 'no position', then who is?

Just so you understand, there was a settlement between Hyperion and Amiga Inc. WA, Amiga Inc. Delaware and Itec LLC.
It was not a court ruling, the court merely granted a stipulated judgment for the negotiated settlement between the parties i.e. all parties agreed.
How you lost money because Hyperion was continued to allow to develop AmigaOS further which it had been doing since 2001, is beyond me.
Note that Hyperion also invested heavily in AmigaDE and even developed a complete 3D API with software renderer for it without any return.
Hyperion also invested heavily in the Collas - Gateway revival and we all know what came of that.
Quite frankly, if you lost money because you thought that Hyperion would loose its rights to continue to develop AmigaOS further which it has been doing for 6 years when the lawsuit was filed, you made a serious error in judgment.
You'll note that Hyperion never had any doubts regarding the outcome and states as much on its website many years ago.

So in other words, you just made a bit of an error in judgment above, and you are feeling a bit embarrassed.
Given I'm a developer (verifiable), who has not lost everything (verifiable) and has not claimed to lose everything due to Amiga Inc and Hyperion (verifiable) I don't see why I should "go first" either. Perhaps you mean I should "go first" in backing up your claims?
I'll give that a try.
No, sorry, they are without merit. I think you just made it up.
Thats my stab, I think its your turn now, yes?

There is only one OS made from original sources Amiga OS 3, and this is the Amiga OS 4. MorphOS and AROS are just clones of Amiga Os.
