@salass00

"There is a box.com filesystem client that is available to betatesters..."

Very nice, good to know.

about google drive...

I got an idea that I share a folder from my android phone (from SD card) to drive.google.com via wifi.
And the I connect my SAM to the phone via USB and access the same folder.
So, the phone would do the communication with google.

But it did not work out on my first try... (tried to share a folder from phone but it did not come visible at drive... I will try the other way around at some point ...)

Another thing to try is to set linux server to do the sharing to drive and connect from amiga via samba or ftp to the server in LAN.

btw. I assume box/drive/dropbox clients for web browsers require JAVA, right?

Every time I see this thread I hope somebody created DropBox for Amiga... But still seems not. Even I prefer DropBox over GoogleDrive [better interface, more options on RightClick [share directory or file to non-DropBox users], more easier to find what is new / latest added and even snapshots of latest files], I hope some day there will be any sharing program between Amiga and other platforms...

@djnick

Personally I prefer Box.net for work stuff but also still use DropBox for personal stuff so either would be great in AmigaLand

@klx300r

I have to say I agree... Box.net is far superior in layout and professionalism...

When they launched I was able to get 50GB account :)

All my cloud accounts have given a total of almost 200GB to play with (Google Drive, SkyDrive, Box, DropBox, Amazon Cloud etc)... with each account serving a different purpose.

Gives on a great deal of flexibility... with some additional "redundancy" built in to boot...

Q!

@All
Not quite as good as having a client but I find that copy.com works pretty well with the latest Odyessy v1.23r3 browser. If you sign up using this link (copy.com - free 15GB) you can get 15GB of space for free.

Since US-Law now also forces US-companies to grant access to files stored on european servers I thought to start a own Amiga-Cloud service called AmiCloud.
NSA free and in "pro"-Version with end to end encryption.

In order to get part of the development costs covered I plan to ask for 5€ for the client.
It will work similar to Dropbox. So you will have a folder which is synced with your personal cloud.

First for AmigaOS 3(AROS68k) and 4.

Details will follow soon.

@Marky_D_Sahdd
I hope we can have a first start in september (2014). Development is planned to be splited it in 3 steps depending on interest. So the more user we will get, the more features we will have.

Step 1 (initial version)
Syncing folder with cloud (there will be a free storage of 512MB until we reach 50Users). As soon we have 40-50 users i will double it for everyone to 1024MB.
From 100users It will be doubled again to 2048MB free space. (the client will cost 5€ ~8$)

The pro Version will be available in some variants. And could cost ~9,90$/month or 80$/year and will give 20gb space as long we are under 20 Pro-users. Above 20 pro-users the space will be 50GB.

All that will raise (not the costs.. they fall) the more people use it.

At the first 50 User goal we will add also additional feature. Things like providing public links to files (if desired) - reachable from Web-browser.

Clients to sync Files from and to Amiga for PC,Mac and android will follow.

It is a must have for me : ) Instead of USB i am nowadays used to move files between my devices via cloud. At the same time it is a nice backup.

PS:
A pro user counts more than a basic user, since he pays a lot more, so the goals can be reached with less users as well.
We will not use Amazon servers (as Apple does), we will rent Servers on demand in germany.

Who owns the server and where will the data be stored and what guarantee of privacy is there?

@AmiCloud

I've had dreams of it, thought I might never see it in reality.
So, I'll love to try it one day (on all flavours, initally on AOS3, AOS4 and MorphOS).

@Fairdinkem
At First it Runs on my AppStore Server which is highly overdressed by now. If needed, aditional ones will be used in the Same Data Center located in Germany.

Backup Servers are located in another Data Center (Same area) to reduce the Risk of total loss by Fire.

German Law applies. I give no Data to another Party. Optionally files can be enctypted.
In Case of a Law Action against a user and a German authority asks for Access to the files of a user i Must Grant Access. If they are enctypted, they Stay encrypted.

This is a Short Version of the Terms of use ; )

(Higher Case jumping is caused by my phone)

Dropbox uses LAN to sync your computer, tho.

Just drop file into Dropbox folder, let it be synced, and all other computers on your network will copy it from you.

Not just all computers on my (home-)network via LAN, but also authorised computers at remote locations via the web (WAN). So a computer to sync with might also stand at the opposite side of the planet...

EDIT:
If you just want to syncronise between computers/devices in a LAN, you might want to think about using a NAS...

DropBox on AmigaOS will not easily work as it does on Windows or Linux, the problem is File Notification on Amiga is primitive.
...

Hmmm - if the OS doesn't offer the required functions, then how about writing own code for those missing OS-functions and implementing it in the Dropbox Amiga Client?
That's the way I'd try it...

Of course - this would require more work. But it would solve the probs...
