@kas1e

I think you greatly underestimate the Frieden brothers capabilities as have many in the past especially because they are now working with great developers just as Hans De Ruiter.

They said they will deliver Timberwolf and they are. I said at Amiwest Hyperion would deliver Gallium/latest OpenGL on the Amiga and we are very close to that target and not through some "hacky" solution but as a basis for a new graphics subsystem in the future.

Gallium/OpenGL 3.x support will be part of Amiga OS 4.2.

Yeah, that all good. I just point out that the timeline for 2 years from me, was pretty real and true one. I only can cross the fingers that all of this will be done fast and releasd for end users, but knowing the amiga realms, i bet for one more year really : in that year it will be finished (i hope), betatested, included to the new release of OS, then again betatester with new release of os and so on : that all will take a year for sure.

Come on! Try to not joke.

I'm sure that they already have working demo.

@Hyperionmp

There will be a significant change in the drawing/windowing API?

@AmigaBlitter

look.
on Low-End card, Gallium performance are the same than nvidia driver, so if they have made a good work, HDRadeon like HD 4650 should have same performance of AMD driver.
But we are talking about low-end card.

AmigaOne X1000 with 4650 in OS4 with Mesa + Gallium should have the same peformance of AmigaOne X1000 with Linux and AMD driver.

@HyperionMP
is it so or not?

@Seiya

As they already stated, the Gallium driver will be directly integrated with the system.
How? dunno.
Maybe openGl will be directly available in the reaction api and could be used with the compositoin engine too. Who knows?

I am pretty sure Gallium/Mesa was promised in AmigaOS 4.2 all along so for me, not new news. Its just a matter of when now, I'll repeat Steven Solie's target of 'First half of 2012' so optimistically anytime in the next 3 months.
This of course assumes they plan to release 4.2 along with the Netbook release which seems sensible.

So it mean we will have latest Mesa3D version 8.x since beginning, well that's great

Actually we are still waiting the Update 5 for all platform so i doubt we will have AmigaOS 4.2 so soon, of course i hope to be wrong but again 'First half of 2012' looks too optimistic imho ..

Since Update 5 is in existence, its strange its not out for all.

Hope they are focusing on TW, Gallium and other 4.2 finalized features

@some

I'm pissed now. WTF are you doing all day?! If you care about Amiga check out the AmiWest videos and listen to what the future might bring. If you don't have time, stop saying things that you don't know anything about!

There's lots of interesting information in those videos. I thought that people here where using NG-machines and where able to watch youtube-videos so go do it!

I'm not contributing much these days but at least I know where things are going when informaion is easily available but it seems like the comunity are more busy showing themselfes off.

Some of them at lest. Going to bed now.

And to those that don't know better, check out youtube. You've heard of it?
