@morphos users

I've uploaded the main Jack executable of the MorphOS compile to the address below, its running in debug mode to find out why it won't start.

If anyone is free this evening to give it a try it would be much appreciated. Simply copy over the executable in your installation drawer with this download using the shell.

And copypasta the output on this thread.

@djrikki

When started from shell I am getting:
"Invalid or incomplete deflate data (zlib)!"

From icon it is not starting at all (starts but quits without any message).

Edit: apparently it fails after loading avcodec.hwp module from LIBS:Hollywood.

@itix

Perhaps I've bundled the incorrect avcodec into the distribution.

If you could be so kind to download it from here and drop it into your libs: drawer over the top of the other one and try again.

Jack 3.1.1 now available in OS4Depot upload queue, addresses a few problems reported from users in addition to other general bug fixes.

* MorphOS: Runs in debug mode, please copypasta the result here if you manage to reach it in this release
* MorphOS: Fixes to installation icon.
* MorphOS: References to SYS: are now MOSSYS:

* Began adding connection detection around downloading of data across the
internet; due to this being a quick fix release this has yet to be implemented
into the App-Store. More to do here.
* Donation database broken due to error in decryption algorithm.
* Fixed error in opening file manager from the shell using arguments.
* File Manager: Fixed downloading of URLs that contained uppercase.
* App-Store: Fixed error with Recent Uploads and Bundles both appearing in Red
under AmigaOS4; seems to have cleared up double buffering error present in 3.1.
* Commodity Window: Added temporary warning requester to JackTunes in case the
user presses this icon by mistake.

I have to try Jack later tonight but what are those references to SYS:/MOSSYS: used by Jack?

@itix

I think he was using something like SYS:C/LHA and now MOSSYS:C/LHA

@djrikki

You should never do that, always use something like "C:LHA"

@morphos users

I have one report in so far from a user in Italy of Jack running fine under MorphOS. Anyone else care to give it a whirl as well for me? If it does PM your email address, and I'll send you a list of things to tests and questions you can hopefully provide an answer to.

Cheers

@klx300r

Ah yes you did, I'll make sure I remove the advertising for you. Only a small number of people have bothered donating prior to this version so they will have to let me personally know!
Consider it done.

@djrikki

B.T.W. - what apps are available in this so called "app-store"?
Does it contain WarpOS- and classic OS 3.x-qapps as well as OS 4.x apps?
How much do apps in this store cost?

@all

Just a quick update in regard to Jack, progress is on-going (as always!).

Will have some more news in the new year, but for now aside from more bug fixes, I have an almost stable version of Jack running on my Mac OS X Desktop and the Windows machine both beside me. :)

The whole cross-platform integration of Jack has been revised from the ground-up and their should be noticeable improvements across all platforms upon release.

Just a teaser:

* Amiga-like operating systems - Screen Promotion
* Drag-and-Drop GIF Playback
* Truly cross-platform

MUI Royale for Hollywood is proving to be quite enjoyable and fruitful too:

Been working all day recreating all the windows in Jack to XML-MUI... no action code as yet - just laying stuff and learning MUI along the way. Re-factoring the action code will no doubt take some time.

http://www.lakemarketingandevents.co.uk/jack/Jack_ScreenCapture10.png

In the interim there will be a one-time only release of Jack for Windows/Mac OS X before I narrow support to Amiga-like OSes only.

@all

Seems I broke user sign-up in Jack when moving the server sometime ago - if you have tried to sign-up an account you can now (again) do so.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

My last attempt to test Jack:

Is there meanwhile a version available for OS 3.x (preferrably WarpOS) where install script and Jack itself work? Last time I tried the installer didn't work.
(please see my posting #53 regarding successless attampts to install)
