Dare I ask why they weren't given a *well proven* Sam440 (with mature drivers) but instead given a Sam460 (whose drivers are still in development)? The last thing a developer needs is problems that aren't caused by their own programming mistakes._________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. I don't think you can conclude whit that, what is clear from start is the Amiga community is not large, and guess is not of highest priority, considering that MS now own Spotify we can only hope they don't sabotage this for everyone. |
Old "Blame Microsoft" card.... Only that they don't own Spotify, they bought Skype... |

| I installed my own SB card in it and that part works fine. In general they are slow at replying at mail. They sorted out some of the problems and maybe all of them.
It might be that they have something running but we havent been informed yet. The project is not dead but the Amiga has ofcourse not the highest priority.
When we delivered the machine, jaokim supplied client-server code and that worked fine. He also demonstrated in front of them how to get access to api-documentation and how to compile code.
Remember that this is a first attempt to hand over an AmigaNG to a big company so any progress is welcomed.
I report back to you when we have a new meeting booked.

Trust me, the soft reboot problem, is the old sound driver. If I look through the archives I bet you'll see I even mentioned it to you at some point even before the bounty had started. Last edited by djrikki on 27-May-2012 at 03:43 PM.

I suspect you are right. But we still need access to the machine to install the latest updates on it. We have a master plan. When we offer beer they reply quick. :)

| Started using Spotify on my Mac cause the Spotify network has just become available here in Australia, and I have to say it is an awesome service they offer ,and the quality on the free version is great! Last edited by Fairdinkem on 28-May-2012 at 10:50 AM.

Nah - I don't have use for that. I still have a big wardrobe filled with my music my collection (vinyl records, audio tapes, HQ audio cassettes (TDK-MAR-90), stereo videos on VHS, CDs). I hate Facebook and DRM. Why should I purchase music when I already have all the titles I like?
I appreciate the effort of getting non-Amiga-apps ported and of getting new developers onboard - but I'D say there are things that are more urgently needed than a sort of iTunes Store for the Amiga.
If one wants to listen music on the Amiga, there already are several ways to do so. But where is a decent, native and up-to-date office package for the Amiga? Or DVD authoring software? Or ...?_________________ Ciao

Have you ever used Spotify? It's closer to ShoutCast.com than it is to iTunes if you ask me (although I on the other hand haven't used iTunes). Except in Spotify you can create your own playlists and search for music in a way ShoutCast cannot do. I consider Spotify an online radio service with full freedom to choose rather than a music store. Not sure you can even buy anything through Spotify, only subscribe to a commercial-free streaming service._________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

| I wonder why the heck they even accepted the hardware and promised to port when they don't even have time to respond to a email.. Will really surprise me if anything will come from this project.
Not that I care that much since they now wont even let you use it without a facebook account which I will never EVER get. No way I will sacrifice the little privacy I have just so i can use spotify. Last edited by Tomas on 31-May-2012 at 07:02 PM.
