Hi folks!

I try not to write to much here until we have real news but I think it's time for a status update.
The past week, Spotify had their "hack-week" and they accepted our "on-site-support".
Jaokim "Jamiga" went there both monday and friday and helped them out. On monday he made sure
AmigaOS4.1.6 was installed. Also the new SDK. During the evenings he helped out with some player
routines and on friday he was on site again and helped them out.

I don't know if it's because we begged for a Amigaport or something else but they have changed their
engine to be able to compile to all kinds of plattforms and to make it easier for them to port to all
kinds of obscure hardware.

As jaokim said. It's nice to see in the official source code lines like this:
Quote:
#ifdef (SPOTIFY_OS == AMIGAOS)

They sorted out the big vs. little endian issues during the week.
Most of the PPC stuff is made on a PPC mac and then transfered to the Amiga.

I don't know when they have a hack-day or hack week next time but about then we will introduce
the MorphOS and Aros issues. We have invited StefanB (Onyx Soft) who made SnapIT to help out
with these ports.
So slow but steady progress on this project.

@Skuggan
@Yssing

Yes that is very cool!

Nice to hear that Develin (Stefan) has stabilized his family enough to get some time for stuff like this I'm in a transition period with zero time and little motivation for such involvements unfortunately. But at least I'm in the final phaze of recovering from the MUI-OWB burnout I got 2,5 years ago...

Edit: Not that it was unstable, just set in routines enough to free up some coding time

@olaf25

Yeah. Too early to celebrate but it feels like we are getting there.
Besides this being a crazy project, some of us in the project have learned
some thing, some of wich you pointed out. How alien our OS (AOS,MOS,AROS) can
be to an outsider of the community.

It should be easier to just get in there and code/port and we need good documentation.

Since we are so small we need to put extra effort in making it easy for outsiders.

@Skuggan
If I am not wrong and please correct me, the first step should be to port the libspotify library (https://developer.spotify.com/technologies/libspotify/) which would help other amiga developers to create their own apps using Spotifys SDK.

There is no need to create the whole player, which would be awesome if they did, but i could be done by other developers if we had libspotify ported.

Sorry if this was discussed previously and I missed it.

@walkero

Yes, that's basically the plan. I don't know it it'll be the full libspotify, but it'll be enough to play tracks. Search and other stuff might be done with other API's, and packaged within an Amiga application.

@Fairdinkem,

On my Winblows box I can record what I hear, never tried on AOS. Wonder if it works.

@QuikSanz

2.5 years since the initial announcement, not looking too promising any time soon sadly.

Would love to see it one day and hopefully a MorphOS port too.

@danwood

It doesn't seem too promising, but they have an Amiga for this purpose and it's booted up frequently. I don't think they'll just boot it up just because they can. It got to have a reason...

@Vistaus

How do you know it is booted up often?
Like official Hyperion AmigaOS4.2 development, this project feels dead.
