Id never heard of it and upon researching I dsicovered why. It's not available in Australia. Are there any worldwide alternatives?

Not really my thing anyway. Im one of what is apparently a dying breed of people who like to be able to physically hold anything I buy.

Nonetheless it seems people are happy about it, so good luck with it.

Well, I think only the limiting factor here is editing only one project at a time. But if the goal is only to port the libspotify, then I don't see a problem here. If the plan is to build a full client, the it could be annoying to switch from project to project (or you need to have multiple ides open).

@people

Just install whatever version of CodeBench too so they can choose or whatever! I just forgot about it since I mostly use Annotate and sometimes CubicIDE.

The point is the machine needs to be preinstalled with everything necessary, not just the OS+SDK.

@Skuggan

I think it is also pretty important to make it clear that they must use either ReAction or MUI, so that noone starts looking at intuition/OpenWindow or anything like that.

If it is supposed to ever be multi-platform they should use MUI, and in that case MUI and the SDI headers must be installed in the SDK as well. Also external classes like for example NList(view), some toolbar mcc I'm sure they'll want, perhaps TextEditor.mcc and stuff like that.

Can't have them wasting a week on stuff like this. The install of the machine has to be thought through

Also boottimes should be tweaked since they will reboot a lot. Remove unused stuff from kicklayout, use Run >NIL: AddNetInterface, set the serial speed in UBoot to the highest possible.

Perhaps install Samba so one dude can code on a windows machine and easily transfer files. FTP can be clumpsy. Otherwise RC-FTPd is a great server that can be used with FileZilla or just winblows exploder.

@Deniil715

I thought they were porting libspotify not writeing a full blown client, so why would they need a GUI at all?

Keep the GUI seperate and just rovide the protocols etc, then we can write our own clients as required.

Far more portable that way.

@broadblues

The hope is that they will code the actual player as well. See the original post, first line. :)
