Yeah, still learning Blender on and off, it.s a mixture of the very good and very bad. I do miss
Imagine, I found Imagine to be the most intuitive 3d software, Blenders like having a stroke and
a lobotomy while sticking an electric drill up your nose..

Wol..

@mbrantley

After finishing up a few of my Hollywood projects (take a look, eventually, at my website),
it's now Blender time!

I started with the tutorial by James Chronister, but the program is definitely slow on my Sam. I'll follow the advice of lovering the color depth to 16-bit.

I wonder how much it will take to get a grasp of it, but I'm very motivated.

Cheers

@g0blin

I'll take a look at your site this evening!

16-bit should help for sure. I find it quite useable on my Sam440ep @ 667mhz and a resolution of 1280 x 1024 (my 4:3 LCD monitor). Only times it feels sluggish is when I load a really complex object (haven't modeled one this complex yet) or when attempting to use the built-in NLE to edit video. Broadblues does videos with Blender on his Sam440ep-flex, but I'm going to want more horsepower for that.

It was the simple, short tutorials by the "kid" that helped me get over some kind of learning "hump" that I had. And I also switched the mouse left-right button setting for selecting, which also helped me though true Blenderheads seem to frown upon this for some reason.

@mbrantley

The most ambitious thing I did with Cinema4D on my classic was

http://fi.aminet.net/pix/trace/moped18.jpg

Made a chair and a table recently with the latest blender for win to find out how to do this in real for my little daughter, but blender is not the best thing for such a task. Go on and have luck !

I'll try that too. Right now my monitor is set up for a higher resolution, and I had problems with fairly simple objects e.g. a very basic viper-like ship from battlestar galactica.

I have no 3D experience, but I think it's time to try.

@Beeblebrox

nice render. any other screenshots?

Cheers

@Beeblebrox

I like it! I hope to be able soon to do something similar.

Ciao
