There is an IDE reset uboot variable. I don't know what it does. _________________ AmigaOne 500(update 6) / microA1(update 6) / Cubic IDE / Imagine Amiga 4000/1200/500/2500/1000 / VIC20 / C64 / SX64 / C128 / C16 / C116 / Plus/4 / PET B500 Windows 7 / 3GHz AMD Phenom 8GB RAM / Lightwave / Visual C++ |

Or even that extra Euro 30.00 for a pci SATA Card.
Some experiences are useful though . I have had these kind of problems were some kind of forces just seem to be trying to keep you from getting some thing quite simple to work. Once I fried my Sams hard drive and had a spare on hand but my dvd drive would not work to allow me to reinstall on the new drive. That's when I became interested in booting via USB flash options under Amiga OS 4.1 as well as rawimage options for recreating the same bootable flash drives . This issue with a Sam460ex has led me to learn that Aros can read and write SFS/00 volumes. And thus the final step to recover for this kind of problem.

Correct AND Incorrect, there is a single IDE-SATA connector on the motherboard which is jumper selected (where the jumper enables the PCIe-1 slot when the SATA port is disabled)
I have been corrected about this on these forums.
@all
The cost of a PCI-SATA card has been met by myself posting such a card to DjNick out of my own collection of PCI cards (I had multiple cards so I have sent one to DjNick).
If anyone wants to see another of the cards I have sent DjNick I'll be available to show this over skype.
along with any of the other cards I will be learning to develop hardware drivers with.
I have 1x Wireless (Broadcom Chipset) at least 2x IDE[1]+SATA[2] (VIA chipset) and various USB controller cards (USB2 spec I think, I will find out and see if I can suggest any changes for the existing drivers to improve them)
But I don't expect to get anywhere with the drivers (this is an old weakness in what I know)
Its not going to stop me trying anyway and seeing if anything comes of it. |

| @djrikki It would have been a LOT more expensive so ship a full system as it would have cost a fortune in vat & tax (Serbia not being EU member). Shipping from Acube to Serbia is EUR 72 alone. What we did was getting the board from Italy to Denmark (19 EUR) where I removed invoice etc. I'm not sure a full new system would have made it through customs without having normal VAT and Tax added.
I hope Nick gets it up and running soon, I'm going to Belgrade next month and will drop by Nick May to see his new setup in action.

Doesn't matter... as of 2012/04/18 (10am New Zealand Time) DjNick has received the card sent, has the HDD and DVD SATA drives attached and wired up,
The Machine is functional and BOOTING!... no more fussing around in getting a working SD card or DVD disc to boot...
It is booting from the HDD, the card has arrived and the OS is *installed*and*booting* from the HDD,
DjNick can now get to the options and making media using Amiga OS 4.x
I'm just glad to have been able to help.
It is more than worth it to see that sam with DjNick and hearing him laughing about finally getting it working!
only one UBoot variable needs to be changed (autobooting AmigaOS from power on instead of needing to type "boota" to start)
and the rest is Network and comfort settings ...
so congratulate DjNick on not giving up.

Well, Belx - you are the only one who helped me 120%
After 3 weeks of pain [10 days of hard work days and nights] - nobody of us "experienced" managed to get Amiga to work. What happened: Belx sent me from New Zealand 2 SATA cards by airplane and it arrived here I think for more than 16 days of travelling [!]. Probably as we here had Easter, so nothing worked for 4-5 days.
Anyway - it arrived :) and I first tried to plug the card into the slot - and I needed 1 or 2 mm of space [!] as tower case didn`t let me plug it in correctly... So I had to remove metallic part that fits to the tower's wall... After I removed it - card fits correctly. Looks like card is bigger for 2 milimeters than standard cards OR my towercase is nonstandard OR motherboard place for card can be 2 mm moved to the left a bit, to make space.
After I connected HD and DVD to that card, and boot - I got "No SATA card available" or something like that [I am writing this form work place so I cant remember right now]. I tried several reboots, options - nothing helped. Like card is not recognized well.
But after that Belxjander jumped in so we had live conversation via Video Skype [on tablet]. He told me I had to plug in DVDRom and HD from first two holes to second two holes [!] I didnt even see they exists. So I reconnected DVD and HD to those other holes, booted - and VOILA! For the first time in 3 weeks - Amiga recognised something. HD was fully recognized {supported} while DVDRom was working but not fully supported {!?}.
THEN Belxjander told me the magic word: insert AmigaOS CD into DVDRom and type
BOOTA
OS4 FINALLY STARTED INSTALLING [!!!!!] :) This was resurrection to me! :)
Few notes to add [as I am not Amiga user since 2001]... at home I have Win7 on all 3 PCs [2 laptops and a PC], iPad2, Androidd 10.1 and iPhones... and I expected [to be hones] MORE user friendly [as it used to be in OS 3.1 or 3.9 back in time].
Even I consider myself very experienced, even extra experienced back in time when I was on Amiga only [and working DTP & music] - I looked at installation and selections what to install - like a Cow in white paper!
I have to say that AmigaOS4.1 [I have update2 here] installation is very very complicated, not user friendly at all. Especially Media Tool Box for partitioning. Omg, it was scary 15 minutes... How on earth any other outside world user will be able to know which file system to install and how to make partitions? I think MediaToolBox must be "idiot-proof" and needs redesigning ASAP.
Then - those stuff with installation internet? Awww, it asked me for DNS servers [!?], Gateway name, ISP name or something... w h a t ??? We tried to manage cable from WiFi router to connect directly to Amiga - still no internet...
So I am now finally installed OS4.1 up2 at home after 4 months since you supported me :) Thank you very much to all and BIIIIIG THANK goes to Belxjander who was more than helpful!
Without him nobody of us [and once there were 12 people in a room trying to figure out what and how to install].
In the meantime I spent over 260 euros for: tower case, power, cooler, cables [monitor splitter], mouse, keyboard, hard disk [I had first SD Disk that I swapped to 500 GB older SATA HD], new SDCard [it is just $6 here], 4GB flash [as I heard Amiga cant see more than 4 or 8 GB flashes [!?]...
As my monitor is 24" full hd resolution, I will have today to get gfx card, and I am reading those pages:
http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=news&id=95
http://hdrlab.org.nz/projects/amiga-os-4-projects/radeonhd-driver/radeonhd-driver-hardware-compatibility/
http://hdrlab.org.nz/projects/amiga-os-4-projects/radeonhd-driver/radeonhd-card-recommendations-for-amigaos-4-x/
and will get any of those cheaper cards. When I asked for them - people were in trance here - What? You asked for those low budget cards that costs 30-50 euros??? Nooo, we will get you newer.
NO! I want exactly only one of those displayed so it can fit into the case... :) Who knows, maybe it will need 2 mm more so I will have to make a hole into the case ;)
I am just few days away of making internet, gfx card and correcting sound card driver, and I think it will be working.
Thank you all, I will let u know as soon as I make Amiga online with gfx card [without effects it looks very... hm...] ;) New skin has to be done with some cool gfx and backgrounds.
Also - I will have to register to ACube, right, and will be able to download updates of OS4.1? So will I need to update from 4.1 up2 to up5 directly or I will have to update step by step from up2 to up3, up3 to up4 etc?
I will have lots of questions for you :) I know absolutely nothing after so many years. But I will get used to it very soon.
Thank you Belxjander. Thank you all!!! See you soon :) _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

You need to register on hyperion's site to get new updates and yep, they all install one over another. I.e. update2, then update3 at top, then update4 at top. Last edited by kas1e on 19-Apr-2012 at 11:03 AM.

Glad that you are up and running at last.
for me with the combined information in the Sam440ep-Flex user guide and the AmigaOS 4.1 Quickstart Guide, OS 4.1 was one of the easiest installs of any OS that I have done.

Even now after you manage to install osl, you still will got some strange issues and bugs where you should't have them, but after 2-3 days everything will be sorted, you will just place everything where you need, setup as you need, and then all will be fine and then will be kind of intersting and fun :) _________________ aos4/aros/mos projects & articles

Thanx for suggestions :) Just a gfx card. Calling my friend that works with hardware, he will find me which gfx card can fit without interfering with SATA card... :)
I hope I won`t need soundcard... :) _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |
