Its a standard line . It is possible that OS4 is not setup properly on the SSD and that Kickstart is loading from the SD card then the system is trying to load OS4 for the SSD because it has a higher boot priority than the SD Card .

I don't have a SAM460, but in the A1 & X1000 Startup-Sequence I have the following line;
MakeDir RAM:T RAM:Clipboards

Is the SAM460 S-S different?

if your SD card is ok then in order to get it to boot from the SD card with the SSD connected so that you can make adjustments to the SSD then you need to get to the early startup menu after the Kickstart files load, You do this by holding down both mouse buttons as soon as the Kickstart has finished loading. Once the Early startup menu appears you can choose the boot device. Select the one that corresponds to the SD Card. once this boots ok then you can attempt to sort out the SSD configuration if this is the problem.
If your SD card is the problem then you can do a new one or even a USB flash drive by booting from the Install CD and going through the same steps as for setting up a hard drive so don't panic or despair yet.

AH, we went through that with the X1000 booting off 2 partitions. I had to set each boot partition with a different os4 splash screen to see where KS was loading from & add an echo output in each S-S file to see what was happening, fun stuff. _________________ X1000! not sure about Fat32 USB Flash drives. Largest I have used is 8 GB. But to boot from a flash drive or SD card it has to be setup like a Hard drive , installing the SLB, using a Bootable partition type like SSF/02 and set as bootable. you then have to format it and copy the OS 4 system files onto it .

It looks like if your SD card is ruined / corrupted / whatever you can't do anything until OS 4.1.2 is copied back to it. That's why you have the SD card, because you only have one SATA connecter which has to be used by the harddrive. I didn't have any luck connecting my DVD drive to the onboard SATA port. Maybe you'll have better luck. If you can, you can use the DVD drive to copy OS4 to the SD card. My problems were similar to yours, but I had one advantage. I never had any trouble with the SD card. _________________ AmigaOne 500(update 6) / microA1(update 6) / Cubic IDE / Imagine Amiga 4000/1200/500/2500/1000 / VIC20 / C64 / SX64 / C128 / C16 / C116 / Plus/4 / PET B500 Windows 7 / 3GHz AMD Phenom 8GB RAM / Lightwave / Visual C++ |

Please update your boot if it is not the latest one.
If you can boot from OS4.1 CD, format the SD card put a SLB to bootblock and install OS4.1 from CD to SD Card. And also don't forget it to make it bootable. I have my SD card inserted as a back-up bootable device.
About SSD on on board SATA, I have never used. I have a SATA connected to Sil3512 PCI Card which works flawlessly. Currently on board SATA is limited to PIO mode, maybe SSD has a problem working with PIO mode ? Or maybe your SATA is cable is weak for SSD ?
By the way don't forget to set boot priority of partition on SSD higher than the partition on SD card, so that it isn't possible to load kickstart from SD, but boot from SSD, which can make a problem if the versions are different |

what sort of psu are u using ? Often a standard atx psu cannot reliably supply current at such low wattages the 460 uses 24w at load.A 400w psu is made cheaply,not well. I was having many problems as you described, as well as random freezing and media toolbox not mounting fat/2 partitions stabily or not booting off a usb optical drive. It took me a while to think it might be because of a std atx psu. What time i wasted. . . . _________________ Ahnee Abad Melech Yeshua Mashiach |

You are aware of my setup of my µA1: I can boot from any version of the OS I like, starting from OS4.1_1. When I thought up how to do it I ran into troubles with boot priorities as I had set the priority of one particular partition to be higher then that of CD0:. The result being that booting would start from CD (OS4.1 first release install), but commenced with booting from that particular higher prioritised partition.
This led me to create a little program called 'BootVolume', which sets up a global variable which I then display in my screen's bar, telling me which partition I (actually and finally) booted from.
In short: to me it looks like a matter of conflicting bootpriorities.
OldFart
P.s.: why does anyone want to have a multiboot/emergency boot setup? In all those years I have NEVER used it. It just sits there and waists precious diskspace (5 partitions of some 225Mb and 1 of 50Mb). On the other hand: I have a windows box sitting here on my desk and I would crave for a multiboot/emergency boot setup a la Amiga. But, alas, that's impossible (in an easypeasy way). And this is what kickstart/kicklayout should look like:
; $VER: Kicklayout-Sam460ex 53.6 (11.9.2011) ; ; Kernel configuration for the Sam460ex ; ; This file describes how the "Kickstart" image should look like, ; i.e. it describes which modules should be pre-loaded and available ; at boot time. ; ; ; Format: ; ~~~~~~ ; The file lists one or more configurations. ; ; Each configuration starts with the LABEL keyword, followed by the ; name of the configuration. The name can be used to specify the ; configuration in the bootloader tool (see Documentation/kernel/ ; bootloader.txt). Note that empty lines end one configuration and ; start the next, which means that you must be careful not to leave ; an empty line anywhere unless you are defining multiple configurations. ; ; Each configuration must have exactly one line with the EXEC keyword. ; This specifies the filename of the main kernel to use. This kernel is ; the absolute minimum required to boot. It contains, among other things, ; exec.library. ; ; The following lines define additional modules to be loaded into the ; kickstart image. | Tips: During boot sequence, once you've passed the progress bar you can rapidly press CTRL+C to enter an AmigaDOS prompt. Might come in helpful.
Tip: Standard volume name of an AmigaOS 4.1 SAM 460Ex Workbench partition is 'OS4.1'.
Q. Whats the highest resolution your monitor will support?
Q. When the stuff arrived did you get a CD with it? Did it specifically read Sam460 above the serial number?
Q> Does it say Update 2 on the CD?
Fb: 02.jpg shows you selected Onboard graphics card, this means the Silicon Motion graphics card - the resolution doesn't go via high. If there is another option should pick that one instead. I have One Emergency Boot Partition which I keep updated as we get new Updates. It serves as a clean boot option . I have a copy of this on a bootable SDcard as an extra measure. It is possible to do rawimage copies of Amiga OS 4.1 bootable devices using a couple of Windows programs for those who have limited SATA options.So you could copy the OS4.1 bootable SD Card Image to a Harddrive or SSD using this method and that SSD or Harddrive should be bootable on the Amiga .

I fiddled with startup-sequence and kickstart for hours. It was a waste of time. If you have a HD that works with the onboard SATA then it will just work. It's difficult to stop it from working unless things are so messed up it won't boot from anything. _________________ AmigaOne 500(update 6) / microA1(update 6) / Cubic IDE / Imagine Amiga 4000/1200/500/2500/1000 / VIC20 / C64 / SX64 / C128 / C16 / C116 / Plus/4 / PET B500 Windows 7 / 3GHz AMD Phenom 8GB RAM / Lightwave / Visual C++ |

EVERY boot partition should contain a CLEAN boot option! The moment you litter your boot partition with 3rd party's stuff you risk a lot of hassle coming your way eventually. I NEVER EVER had to reinstall a boot partition. After a new update has been released it takes me an extra quarter of an hour or less to have it look and behave like the one it supercedes.
I went through a lot of hassle once, and only once, to get where I'm now and I never have regretted it. Applied some stupidities during the years I won't hesitate to admit.
