I've tried deleting the non-SM502 files from AHI & audiomodes drawers. I still have no audio. I guess it is time to capture serial output. One more thing is happening during coldboots since installing the new SM502 driver. When I first boot into WB, screenmode is 8-bit 640x480. After a soft reboot, it goes back to normal.

You can capture a serial log the same way as AmigaONE XE or any other computer - connect a null modem cable to your SAM's serial port and the other end to a terminal (e.g a PC) and capture the log using a program such as PuTTY (If you use Windows).

The driver will be moved to the main page of OS4 depot shortly, it was delayed in the Uploads section because I requested to replace the old one. If people don't want to believe you, then that's their problem _________________ The standard disclaimer applies |

| @rossv Just wanted to say thanks for the continued work on the driver Ross, sound is way better now, can listen to music with the volume up and no crackling
Im also using it on a 460 but I dont have to do a warm reboot to get sound its there from switch on and any cold reboots I do (just tried a warm reboot and still got sound)

Before trying a serial capture, I decided to try one more thing. Around the same time I installed the new SM502 audio driver, I installed the Wazp3D library. I removed Wazp3D and rebooted. I no longer have the 640x480 screen and lack of audio. I have 1280x1024 32bit and audio. Just as everyone else has already posted, it is great to have crackle-free sound! Thank you for your hard work Ross. It is much appreciated.
As for Wazp3D... well... I hear Gallium is in the works. _________________ Motherboard: SAM460ex lite @1017 MHz with 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM PCIe: Radeon HD4850 @625 MHz with 512 MB DDR3 @993 MHz PCI: ARC1-152-C7 riser card Riser: sil0680 card with 40 GB HD & DVDRW OS: 4.1 Update 6 |

Thanks for your effort in regards to the SAM460 audio driver. We all appreicate it. I should be home this week and I will install the new driver as soon as I can. I don't foresee any issues : )

do you mean that having wazp3d in your libs (renamed as warp3d.library of course) has influenced your system in that way that it restricted video resolution and caused sound not to work? that is seriously weird. warp3d or wazp3d dont do anything unless they are called by a program that needs them afaik. if you can reproduce the behavior you report then you should report it where necessary because it might indicate a bug in the os. |

I was able to reproduce the behavior by putting wazp3d (renamed warp3d.library) back into LIBS. I was able to stop the behavior by taking wazp3d out of LIBS, or reverting back to the old SM502 audio driver. Apparently there is some conflict between the two at boot time, since the new audio driver would not work at all with wazp3D installed. _________________ Motherboard: SAM460ex lite @1017 MHz with 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM PCIe: Radeon HD4850 @625 MHz with 512 MB DDR3 @993 MHz PCI: ARC1-152-C7 riser card Riser: sil0680 card with 40 GB HD & DVDRW OS: 4.1 Update 6 |

Very weird as wazp3D do nothing with audio
Wazp3D dont start alone : certainly a program do an OpenLibrary("Warp3D.library") at startup : perhaps a screen blanker or an other utility or os4 (?)
Perhaps the problem is RamLib related... I dont know

I agree that this is very wierd. Something that could be relevant, but should not be relevant, is the removal of initializing the SM502 graphics in the SM502 audio driver. I'm not using the SM502 graphics, but my X1600; therefore, it should not be an issue. Another thing could be the default prefs of the Wazp3D library. I did not adjust any of the prefs. Do the prefs have to be customized for each platform (Classic, A1, SAM, Peg2)? _________________ Motherboard: SAM460ex lite @1017 MHz with 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM PCIe: Radeon HD4850 @625 MHz with 512 MB DDR3 @993 MHz PCI: ARC1-152-C7 riser card Riser: sil0680 card with 40 GB HD & DVDRW OS: 4.1 Update 6 |

I also have Wazp3D installed, but no problems with Sam460 audio driver. Is there any software using Warp3D in your wbstartup-prefs ?

Perhaps something that use heavily warp3D (like some screenblankers ) want to start but Wazp3d is too slow to render it so give a 100% cpu charge Just an idea... Perhaps a search of files containing the text "Warp3D.library" (=using it) may help

I did have a few GL screenblankers installed. I removed them after removing the wazp3D library so as not to cause problems. I didn't think blankers would effect startup.
The previous text is all that hyperterm captured from the serial port. I just found wegsters OS4Zone article on capturing debug output. I'll try that tonight.
I'll also check my wbstartup; though, I don't think anything other than exchange and screenblanker engine is there. Last edited by PhantomInterrogative on 17-Apr-2012 at 12:18 PM. Last edited by PhantomInterrogative on 17-Apr-2012 at 12:07 PM.

In that case, I'll try one more thing. I'll reinstall wazp3D without the GL blankers. If I have sound and my 1280x1024 screenmode, then the GL blankers are at fault. _________________ Motherboard: SAM460ex lite @1017 MHz with 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM PCIe: Radeon HD4850 @625 MHz with 512 MB DDR3 @993 MHz PCI: ARC1-152-C7 riser card Riser: sil0680 card with 40 GB HD & DVDRW OS: 4.1 Update 6 |

OK! Wazp3D does knock out the sound. I booted with debug levels 1 and later at 2, but did not capture anything more than what I had at level 0. I removed Wazp3D; however, I now have 640x480x8 with every cold boot. If I remove SM502 audio driver, my screenmode is fine. What is going on here? (This is posted on the Hyperion forum as well) _________________ Motherboard: SAM460ex lite @1017 MHz with 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM PCIe: Radeon HD4850 @625 MHz with 512 MB DDR3 @993 MHz PCI: ARC1-152-C7 riser card Riser: sil0680 card with 40 GB HD & DVDRW OS: 4.1 Update 6 |

How strange, looks like you are the only one! I have to do a warm re-boot every time to get sound from my SAM460. Is there something different about your set up I wonder?_________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card. |

| Thank you for waiting
Since I am the only one reporting this particular problem, I know that something has to be awry with my particular setup. (Side note: Please interpret my posts as troubleshooting rather than complaining. Sometimes it is difficult to discern between the two. I am indeed happy with my little SAM460ex.)
Some SAM460 owners have reported in other threads in relation to other problems that a fresh OS4.1 update 2 install, followed by updates 3 and 4, solved their problems. If I can't find any other possible cause tonight, I will try to reinstall OS4.1. If anything, said install will eliminate any possible 3rd party conflict that I may have missed. _________________ Motherboard: SAM460ex lite @1017 MHz with 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM PCIe: Radeon HD4850 @625 MHz with 512 MB DDR3 @993 MHz PCI: ARC1-152-C7 riser card Riser: sil0680 card with 40 GB HD & DVDRW OS: 4.1 Update 6 |
