As a classic amiga user I would like to see more support for the PCMCIA built into the OS other than installing this after the OS4.X is installed on a hard drive.

ie drivers for network cards & support for CF cards (fat95,98 whatever).

@delshay

The PCMICA slot should stop working when you have put extra ram in side your A1200 (because of address conflict), at least that is what this thread says:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=42502

You need a lot of RAM to run AmigaOS4.1, if your interested in AmigaOS4.1 for your classic you better go for a ELBOX PCI upgrade plus a Radeon gfx card, of course that will turn your cute A1200 in to big box monster.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Thats only true for cards that put more than 4MB into the 24Bit-addressspace, but since there is only one card that can be put into an A1200 AND give you a chance to run the 4 that point is mute....

@Kronos

back in the days i had two amiga 1200

one with blizzard 030 50mhz 16mb ram
and a apollo 060 66mhz 32mb ram

i had scsi controller interface plugded into pcmcia
port. with scsi cd-rom and 2-3 scsi hardrive on
eatch of them.. so i think pcmcia worked great with the
extra ram.

Blizzard PPC card do not conflict with the PCMCIA port otherwise I will not be able to network or use CF card in the slot.

It already works. I'm talking about having this built into the OS other than having to install extra software after installing OS4.x.

From my point of view the OS should support as least CF cards out the box if possible,but if it can't be done then so be it.

Blizzard PPC SCSI is another thing that needs to be looked into.

Again from my point of view if the board has anything that is standard then it should be supported.

My desktop is already a monster its the most powerful Blizzard/Bvision combo.

I have already proved Blizzard PPC to have the fastest memory bandwidth ever seen on *any* classic amiga,this means its memory bandwidth is faster than a cyberstorm 366Mhz.

Some user dislike overclocking but watch out theres a Blizzard 300Mhz on its way but its performance is different from any other 300Mhz card *no overclocking*.

Note my setup is different from any other classic setup for a start Bvision has 250Mhz Ramdac there are only three Bvision cards in world that has this.

As it stands OS4.x needs small rewrite to take full advantage of my setup as more modification are completed,but should work as normal without rewrite.

@all

I vote for USB support of hardware that can be bought; like an inexpensive USB (PCI) card. Support for hardware from one company that no longer produces a product is contrary to support for the most basic sound, NIC, and SATA cards.

I hope Update 5 fixes the swapping. It has been badly broken since update 3 but working in update 2 where it was just a bit buggy but basically worked.
