@sicky

Can you use WHDLoad on a SAM ???

If so that would take care of any problems...

Maybe another version will work or try WHDLoad installed game (as pointed by Franko).

HD installed versions are eg. on Back2roots.org

Probably not the same issue, but with 68k euae (Im an amithlon user) I noticed that I get no display on an 8bit display (possibly 16bit too, cant recall off the top of my head) when using an emulated aga system. For OCS/ECS lower color depth gives a display, but not aga.

I suggest Slam Tilt (head and shoulders above the rest).
As an added bonus, you can also get it downloaded, installed and configured to run with a single click by its glUAE helper (you can get it from the HELPERS page of the glUAE website) - all you need is Curl, LhA and UAE

+ 1 with glUAE's helper I had Slam Tilt running awesome on my Samflex@800 so it should run even smoother on your Sam460.

btw, once your there try out all the other great helpers too & have fun Deluxe Galaga AGA that actually holds high scores is one of my favourites

@sicky

I just created released the Pinball Dreams helper for you
Now getting the game installed and ready to run is a matter of answering a few simple questions once and for all - after that, you'll be able to run the game anytime the way you prefer (Workbench, AmiDock, shell, menu, whatever).

Detailed step-by-step guide:
1. go to the HELPERS page on the glUAE website;
2. download the Pinball Dreams helper;
3. unpack the helper anywhere;
4. launch the installer;
5. answer the questions.

You can repeat the installation as many times as you want, to find the settings that best suit you. Once the game is installed, you can get rid of the helper.

Requirements: curl, LhA and UAE. If you don't have glUAE installed, the installer with download and install it automatically (in that case, you'll be asked a few more questions).

Feel free to contact me for questions or feedback.

@sicky

It looks like a temporary failure by Aminet when the installer tried to download the archive SetDTool.lha. I've tried it now and it works. Please try again.
Should it keep on happening, then download the tool manually (http://aminet.net/util/cli/SetDTool.lha) and put it in your command path.

EDIT: I've just found a bug (which is not what has caused the above, but anyway...): if the path to SetDTool has a space, the icon does not get the icon default tool set, as the tool call fails. I have updated a fixed helper for Pinball Dreams already. I'll update also all the other helpers, but first I need to test them all again to make sure that the source archives are still reachable)

With RuninUae I play Pinball Dreams, Pinball Fantasies And the great Slam Tilt, without problems, just install RuninUae, start, it and play the games in adf or WHDLoad versions.

I have managed to run the installer now but when I try to run Pinball Dreams get the following output:

CD: object not found
uae: Unknown command

Any ideas?

When you installed glUAE, did you pass the correct and full path to the UAE executable, or did you just type "uae"?

I did not get that question! It asks for:

"Your UAE configuration file specifies: $KICKSTARTLINE.
Do you want to select another Kickstart?"

What does this mean, I don't understand the question completely?

I have a Kickstart directory but no file called "Kickstart"?

EDIT:

When I select from icon information to run from Workbench get a message:

Unable to open tool 'OS4.1:S/glUAE_ULASD'

But that file is in that directory!

@sicky

This second question is connected to the other one, and seems to indicate the glUAE is misconfigured. Since you were not asked UAE's path (that should happen during the installation, not when running the game), then you must have had glUAE already installed (but misconfigured).
I suggest you install glUAE again: once that is done correctly, you won't have any more problems with the helpers. glUAE won't interfere with RunInUAE nor modify your installation of UAE.
You can get it from OS4Depot: http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=emulation/utility/gluae.lha .

Please don't be discouraged: glUAE needs to be installed only once and it's very easy (just answer a few questions); then, as you have seen, using the helpers is a piece of cake.

EDIT: forgot to mention: I have just released all the helpers, after testing all of them (and each of them multiple times, depending on the number of source options).

@saimo

Did all the above and installer got further to the point of asking resolutions etc. Now when I try to run the game I dont get previous outputs but get:

Failed to load Kickstart image 'kick.rom'

Where is this file?

EDIT:

I have found in DH0:Emulation/AmigaROMs

Kickstart-34.4.rom
Kickstart-A1200-40.68.rom
Kickstart-CD32-40.60.rom
Kickstart-CD32-extra-40.60.rom

@sicky

UAE must be told where the Kickstart ROM image is. Your main UAE configuration file (.uaerc, located where the UAE exacutable is) should already have that specified. It seems that your configuration specifies

kickstart_rom_file=kick.rom

but the file kick.rom does not seem to be located in the same directory as the UAE executable; or, maybe, there's a problem with the key file (kickstart_key_file option).

F.ex., I have this in my .uaerc file:

kickstart_rom_file=KS-3.1.rom
kickstart_ext_rom_file=
kickstart_key_file=rom.key

with KS-3.1.rom and rom.key in the same directory as the UAE executable and .uaerc.

That said, at the beginning, the helper offers you the possibility to choose a specific Kickstart file: if you use that, you won't need to fiddle with .uaerc (but still I suggest you do it, so that UAE works also without glUAE).

EDIT:

Quote:

Kickstart-A1200-40.68.rom
Kickstart-CD32-40.60.rom

Great! Then just choose the A1200 one and you're done
