@ all

I don't get all this I hate MorphOS, AROS, OS4 stuff when the solution to it all is very simple...

Just use real Amiga hardware running anything from 1.0 to 3.9, problem solved... seriously...

mkay. I truly don't get that comment.

Assuming Jim is Iggy (and I'm sure he is), he's been open to CUSA's plans as well or anything else that might further the community as a whole by offering new opportunities. So I don't understand the attempt to "pigeon hole" him really.

@itix

you're ignoring the post it is replying to. i am so sick of this OS4 v MOS bollocks that pervades everything in this community. an article on AmigaOS gets comments that are nasty and untrue; that provokes a response and away we go.

i used to think the community was a positive when i adopted the amiga two years ago. no longer. i really wish everyone would just leave the other 'side' alone, but no, we have to have MOS guys trashing OS4 at every opportunity. and we have to have OS4 guys poking fun at the fact that MOS runs on power macintosh hardware.

why do i even bother reading stuff about the amiga any more? i'm seriously thinking of leaving, like the countless others who did before me.

We know "XYZ" is the only and true amiga-platform and the whole other phrases... No problem I love to work with the emulators (Aros, 68k...) . Let the market decide...

That's not a secret, the "official" developers are the Fridens bros only, others works as "external" programmers ..

About the word "emulator" i think Ssolie in his reply included the entire AmigaOS community.

So the OS3 users aswell --> so including it even include users with WinUAE

Ah... now that I read it again after you pointed that out, I think your right and that is what he was saying...

Gotta agree with him on those figures, I reckon myself there are somewhere between 8 and 10 thousand active Amiga users around today worldwide (of all varieties)...

@eliyahu

He writes AROS, MorphOS and UAE are better options but you take it as OS4 vs MOS bollocks.

See?

no, i don't see. he's a MOS user. i almost never see AROS or UAE guys ever bashing OS4. but the MOS folks can't resist. and the OS4 fans can't resist trying to respond in kind.

@amigang

Great interview, deserves to be news. OS is no secret and text is honest about its flaws and development. Will OS 5 be made is not really just on the fans, but sounds nice in terms of needed support. Each step forward is great, and OS 4.0 is really big step forward from OS 3.9. Its a shame PowerPC is factor of existance and limit at same time.

By your own rules, if you're using any OS over 3.1, you're not a "true" Amiga user. If you're using OS3.5 or 3.9, you're just as much a "traitor" as us NG users.

LOL, just was watching the 6 hr mini series, Hatfields & McCoys, after 128 yrs, the 2 families got together & signed a truce.

We have a ways to go to beat that one.

Actually on 5 of my miggies I still use 3.0 ROMs and OS 3.0 and under...

On my main miggie I do use a 3.1 ROM and OS 3.5 (3.9 was rubbish)...

But you see my rules are my rules and because I make em I can break em...

None of that matters anyway as I declared myself an independent state a long time ago and there are no rules here...

And rules were made to be broken, life's boring if you play by the rules (especially if they were written by someone else)...

It was certainly nice to be asked to do the interview.

I see I managed to ruffle some feathers as well which is always a bonus.

Good interview. Interesting read..

One thing sad whenever I see OS4 screenshots its always windows and icons. no apps :((

Once again if all the resources spent on drivers for new HW platforms was spent on Software development we would be in a good place with the OS atm. Instead we have alot of hardware (that mostly sux) and little software.

nice interview & a bonus being in a popular tech publication

got an email from a Mac head friend of mine commenting on the article..he basically said he couldn't believe AmigaOS was still being developed and sold (even though he knows I use OS4.1) and called me an Amiga freak!...

I thanked him & called him a Mac head

have a great weekend my fellow Amigan freaks
