| HI guys
Quick questions:
1) What video player works and plays videos??? DVPlayer can not play anything.
2) Downloaded mPlayer with mui, started Generic. started the other one... drag and drop video file - and everything dissapears...
I tried mp4, avi, xvid, divx, mkv...
DvPlayer displays - in demo version this is not supported, and the ohter just dissapears.
3) Is there a program that will enable me to see in Workbench JPEG files [when view in Icon mode], PNG files [when list directories in icon mode too?]
4) What is the best ImageViewer for AmigaOS4??? I have LoView - it is terrible slow...
Or ot make easier question: is there any program similar to PCs ACDSea??? I want to click on image - it opens in its size. Middle click - full screen. DoubleClick - opens thumbnails window with images... I guess I am expecting much? :D _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

I have seen this exact problem with mui-mplayer and fixed it. On my blog I detailed the solution to how to get mui-mplayer working in this blog entry.
Please try out the changes I mention and see if it works for you - It works great for me now.

For image viewing, I use LoView and find its performance acceptable but a little sluggish on Sam440 but expect it to be like slicing butter with a hot knife when I get my X1000. I also use PictureAlbum. It is a very unique image viewer in the way it handles thumbnails. It's pretty cool, actually.
Looks like you got some quick advice on overcoming mplayer difficulties. To that I will also add that it's worth the purchase price to register dvplayer.

Today I went to the DV Player website and clicked on the Buy Now link out of interest to find out how much it costs to register it - however the Buy Now link appears to be broken.
I confirmed the Buy Now link is broken for WarpView also.
I notified the author of the programs via his email contact details on the website, to let him know about the problem. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Drag any video onto Jack (top left corner) and it just works. Similar performance to mplayer, dvplayer and others - just press 1,2,3 to toggle between sizes or F for full-screen, supports everything I personally have thrown at it so far. However, your in the same situation as me, waiting for video overlay (Radeon HD 4650) and OpenGL support aka waiting for AmigaOS 4.2 which will no doubt help with video playback in the future. Hey Thanks DJRikki :) DJNick is happy to hear drag and drop to Jack plays video!!! Actually only Jack is managed to play videos :) Other video players dont ;)
I am going to investigate further.
Btw - how can I skip videos left / right [forward / backward]? Arrows does not work neither I do see a gui?
p.s. just installed PicShow! The best viewer! Does exactly what is intended for and works very fast! Thank you guys!!! _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

Frame skipping was disabled because the GrimReaper was paying me regular visits.
Only pause (space bar) is implemented at present.
However, the Hollywood video codec has been updated since this release so I will be looking at it again. Also I want to add support for dropping m4a/mp4/mp3s on there too. Last edited by djrikki on 24-Jun-2012 at 03:12 PM.

Hey Epsilon! GREAT HELP! Much appreciated!!!
AT LEAST Video works!!! Finally I can view video playing! Yes, that is correct - your blog help solved something I would never find out until the end of life :)
One more big question I am trying to figure out:
How can I set all .JPG and .JPEG files to open WITH PicShow? And how to set all .AVI, .MPG etc files to open with mPlayer?
As there is no OpenWith as in Win7 - I see there is DefIcons program that seems OVERcomplicated [!?] to ordinaly user... What are those commands to the right?
I remember I spent lots of time configuring DOpusMagellan to show selected images on F10 and thumbnails on Shift+F10 looong years ago... Now this prefs seems even less understandable to me?
I tried to Drag and Drop, Learn JPG and match with mPlayer program - no way to figure out... Damn :( _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

Good to see you running tunenet and now trying to manage videos and pictures. For pictures i use picshow but also loview got my interest lately (nice gui etc). For videos get mui-mplayer or the reaction version but i think the mui-mplayer is what you will choose.
To get everything to work i use dopus4 to watch pics and starting videos. But sure you have to config everything. If you cant watch all jpegs with picshow maybe you need some libraries it needs. Dont remember now as im not on amiga for the moment. For making workbench to play all the files when you click on them its not my best knowledge. Ofcourse you can edit envarc:sys/ i think theres some icons there for every type of file. You can probably open iconeditor or something and define what tool to use.
Anyway good to see you interest in amiga again :) |

Assuming there's no other pitfalls in MPlayer port for OS4, the reason why it didn't play anything is because the radeon driver you use doesn't support overlay for your gfx card (Radeon HD, i assume), and as MPlayer uses overlay by default. However, it should have used the fallback cgx_wpa driver, but it wasn't ported correctly on this matter, unfortunately. |

Yes but - how to configure ALL jpg files and ALL jpEg files to play via Picture viewer program? I can go to jpg INFO and there change viewer from Multiview to PicShow. But ONLY THAT FILE will show through PicShow. All other JPEG files will display throught Multiview.
I wish Multiview will one day be as good as PicShow...
If you have simple "tutorial" how to "hack" [what to type and how?] JPG and JPEG file list to open via PicView, plz let me know.
Win7 has OpenWith and Save Program as Default. _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

Yes I read about it. Lets hope overlay will come soon. Playing movies @ full screen is like playing OpenGL game via AGA. _________________ dj | my.www | my.deviantart | my.youtube | gfxriver |

No overlay. Textured-video is the option for Radeon HD cards. Confirmed by Hans today.
