@Rudei

This is a very surprising announcement about Hollywood ordering closing at end of July!

I bought Hollywood 5 and designer 4 recently for AmigaOS 4 and looking forward to playing with it.

I hope the ongoing support and updates for AmigaOS 4 version of Hollywood will be clarified. I really hope Andreas isn't disappearing from the Amiga scene for good.

This emphasises that we need to support developers and buy good products if we want them to keep releasing for Amiga.

Catcha,
Epsilon

@Nibunnoichi

We have to wait what Andreas will announce. If changing shop why no dates and "for personal reasons". If I want a new shop I hire one and close just for the server-change. "Sold" would be bad too because it would propably mean the end of "amiga-support" that was certainly not profitable.

@Epsilon

there is just a news on amiga-news.de (German):
http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/AN-2012-07-00060-DE.html

No sales anymore (no dates) but still support and updates. No official reasons why.

@OlafS25

Tidied up google translation;

Hollywood and Hollywood designer only available to 31 July 2012 for purchase As Andreas Falkenhahn tells on his website, the programming and the Hollywood-based presentation application, Hollywood designers are only available until 31 July. After this, the online shop of Airsoft Softwair will be closed temporarily. Upon request by amiga-news.de explained Falkenhahn that is actually just the sale until further notice - it will continue to provide the usual support, and the release of updates and new plugins are planned. - This applies to all platforms, it is not a purely Amiga-specific measure - Falkenhahn declined to comment publicly on the reasons for its decision.

\Speculation mode on: I suspect either a challenge to the use of the Hollywood name, or a buyout from a bigger organisation.

@Rudei

It pretty much sounds like it's it for him. Maybe he sold the product
to another individual. This seems to be the last chance to grab your hollywood
copy as you know it. Next versions if any will be something else. IMHO of course.

@Manu

It is a strange thing to stop sales. We cannot know what has happened and what his reasons are. Hopefully he will at least offer bug-fixing. If there will be new versions in future is not foreseeable.

Yes that would be logical. But we cannot know. I would have preferred if he had explained why but he certainly has its reasons...

Very odd decision, really looking forward to Hollywood 5.1 here as it fixes an important bug in downloading RSS Feeds hopefully its something temporary or transitory.

Some clarifications:
1. Development will go on. Updates and new plugins are already in the pipeline.
2. All Internet sites of Airsoft Softwair and Hollywood will stay online except the store.
3. The store will go down at the end of July for an indefinite time. "Indefinite" may mean temporarily or for good. I honestly can't tell at this time.
4. If you are interested in Hollywood/Hollywood Designer, I strongly recommend you to buy the package now. That's why I made this announcement after all. I don't want to disappoint anyone. That's why I'm telling you straight away that I won't be able to process any more orders after the end of this month. So here's your chance to grab your personal copy.
5. I understand that the lack of information concerning the store closure is unsatisfactory but please understand and respect that I can't tell anything more at this time. I also won't comment on any speculations.
6. Reports of Hollywood's death are greatly exaggerated.

That's a relief, guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with the sales side of things.

Hopefully further releases will continue for AmigaOS. Hollywood + Designer is my favourite AmigaOS application. Go get it people while you still can!

@djrikki

I bought Hollywood 5, Designer 3 & Malibu back in May

Just these week I've started using it with the Cubic-IDE plugin instead.
I can't recommend that enough.
I've spent the last few weeks writing Windows software for work on my Amiga which I think is truely amazing in its self.

Just this morning I handed over a finished windows EXE to my team to use in their daily analysis of faults.

I can use it at home on the X1000 and continue at work using AmigaForever then compile for windows. Heck I even made an applet for my Galaxy S3 and it worked perfectly too.

I'm temped to upgrade and get the windows IDE and upgrade Designer 3 to 4.

In my opinion this is the best package available for the Amiga and should be bundled with the OS or all New Machines.

I sincerely hope this isn't the end of the road for it.

The whole feel of it reminds me of the fun i had using Blitz2 back in the 90's

PS like your blog articles and source snipits.... many thanks

If nothing has changed in terms of the product offering and just the store is closing, why can't a reseller sell it from the website?

@A1200

we should not speculate on it. It is certainly not a technical issue why the shop goes down (for a short time or forever)

@JurassicC

Staying on topic, JackCharts Beta 0.22 (written in HW5) now available on OS4Depot, check the Upload queue as necessary.

If you don't have Curl yet, please install it separately from OS4Depot - this dependancy will be removed when HW5.1 is released/I have it.

Enjoy!

@JurassicC

That all sounds very interesting. What sort of application have you written? Sounds pretty cool. Also I take it that you can run it on your S3 as I noticed that there is a Hollywood runtime player for Android as well.

@All

Very sad indeed, I have just upgraded to latest versions of Hollywood and Designer and they are great professional software and I hope we don't lose them and it's only a temporary situation!
