Well, 0.141 runs at about 75-80fps on Final Fight on a Pegasos 2 G4 without any frameskip. Unless they crippled MAME horribly since, it should be comparable. |

iirc mame on os4 has not been optimized , i know steffen worked on that but he has gone AWOL again.. :(
Spirantho did a quick and dirty port i think, a good start but it will need quite an upgrade to be fast enough.
been a long time since i actually used mame a lot but this thread sparked some interest again so i will give Wanderer a go , love that game!. (and gunsmoke and Spirit Ninja).

Sure and i think the port isn't that hard but we need a developer to do that, sometimes ago i asked kas1e but he had no time _________________ BACK FOR THE FUTURE

I have it running here as well quite nicely full screen and windowed. Frame rate looks perfect. Peg2 1ghz Radeon 9000 pro 2 w/overlay.
However, I dont get the cool mame banner in the gui nor do I get the preview thumbnail.
I also cannot get any of my usb adaptors or joystick to work correctly with Amigainput to use joysticks so no MAME :((
I'm debating getting an Xarcade setup, has anyone used this on Mame and os4? Should work as it uses ps2 keyboard commands..
Oh also if anyone can please help I have about 150 roms but the following roms I own dont work on this version mame os4...
1. Defender (all diff types)
2. Centipede
3. Badlands
4. joust
5. pac man
6. ghost and goblins
7. Smash TV
8. Dragons lair
9. Gauntlet
and others I forget.. please help the classics are my fav |
I think you can forget about running Dragon's Lair on MAME. It was a laserdisc game.
I believe there was a DVD version that would run on a DVD player or Playstation 2._________________ 'unfixed' A1XE, 512mb RAM, plug-in USB card, Sil 0680 IDE card, Radeon 9250, built-in sound, OS4.1 update 5. |

That's why I ported it. The versions fast enough for old Amigas are so old now, that it's impossible to get ROMs for them. Now as we have machines like the X1000, maybe we have chance of playing at least some of the games properly.
The SDLMAME can also be used as a basis for a future Amiga port, of course. More than willing to help advise anybody who wants to try, as there are some oddities you need to know to compile MAME.
The other reason was because I wanted to run the latest MESS, which is under more rapid development in terms of obvious compatibility. With SDLMESS we have a chance of emulating tons of odd computers that will never get a dedicated emulator under AmigaOS any other way. |

I have used mine with MorphOS without any problems. It works as a keyboard with the included PS/2 adaptor (and you can still use PS/2 keyboard, as it has passthrough)
I mostly use it with the USB adapter though, which shows as 2 keyboards.
I'm not sure if the newest models come already with on-board USB, at least there's USB-equipped "upgrade-board" available.
here is an old review I did. Only in finnish, but you might still enjoy the pictures or something
-EDIT- I have read about lots of problems related to AmigaInput. Since this joystick appears to the OS as a keyboard, there should be no problems.Last edited by Jupp3 on 30-Aug-2012 at 11:20 PM.
