I fitted a removable rack in my SAM, and have several SATA HD's wich I can backup to when inserted in that rack.
I keep them at my mothers place to be sure it cant be stolen or burned down or flooded at the same time as my SAM

SATA to SATA copying is faster then copying to USB disk. Also the disks are cheaper

Also I have the same rack in my PC to backup my NAS.

There is "backitallup" at OS4 depot for OS4 users. It's simple and easy to use but the GUI is a little outdated. Once you perform a complete backup, it will do an incremental backup and only copy changed or add files.

Agreed. I used this BackUp program recently to backup (and restore) partitions which I was converting from JXFS to SFS2. For some unknown reason AmiDVD and MakeCD cannot detect my CD0 drive, so I can't backup to CD-R discs like I did in the past.

Others have suggested BackUp and works well for me on OS4, although I probably don't use enough!

It checks for files that have changed and only copies new/updated ones rather than copying the whole lot every time, so will be quicker especially if you have lots of media files, MP3s, photos, etc.

The problem: I have a 200GB DOS\07 volume I want to backup to an SMB shared FAT32 volume.
The solution : Lha to shared volume (file flags & comments preserved to a strange FS).

Unsolvable issues :
1. How do you split the .lha to multiple volumes ( v2.15 seems problematic) ?
2. How do you exclude directories from om archive (e.g. Trashcan)? -W Exclude filenames seems also broken.

Like everyone else, I use Deniil's BackUp as well. It's awesome! Dude, you should charge for it. :)

You can even integrate it into your context menu, so that you can back-up a volume by right-clicking on it's icon:

My target is a flash drive formatted with SFS. I don't recommend copying a SYS partition straight to a non-Amiga filesystem, because you never know what it's going to do to the metadata (data, like pictures and videos are fine, I would be hesitant to copy exes).

I believe it's possible to boot from flash on an A1XE, but I've never tried it.
